I have been living as the spouse of an alcoholic for almost 3 years. It has been a rollercoaster ride for sure. Horrible times when it has gotten to the point of physical abuse (last time was a year ago). She has been drinking non alcoholic beer most of the time but the last couple of weeks it's been back to the bud light. She gets mean, nasty, and confrontational when she drinks. Saturday night she called me horrible names. My 16 heard it all and has been my greatest support through all of this. I think that I am ready to walk away. Things will never change. I no longer feel the same about her. I look at her and do not see or feel love, just empty regret. Am I crazy for feeling this way? I am very unhappy and have completely secluded myself for the last two days. I am so broken and am not able to forgive.
You are not crazy for feeling the way you do. Abuse will tear you down to nothing. I am deeply sorry that you are at this state of things. If is awful and makes you want to run away. Get yourself out of this situation and start taking care of you. Seek professional help for the abuse you have endured. It can mess you up and make you doubt yourself.
I am sorry for the horrible time you are going thru and the abuse you have endured. You need to protect yourself (and your child) and be kind to yourself. Prayers for strength and peace.
