My AH is doing better to keep sober. He's been doing meetings and listening to speakers at night and meditating. I'm so happy he's trying but it's hard.
Hardest part is our daughter. She's began to really lash out. Not just at me anymore but at her dad. Last night she got so angry because we took her computer away for not doing her homework and messaging at all hours. I was sick of it already! She's been doing this for a while. She got so upset we were going to read her messages that I struggled with her with the laptop and her dad came in and snatched it up. He tried to discipline her and it wouldn't work she became so angry and defensive and fisted up with him. He kept telling her to go to her room and so did I. I told her to leave and she wouldn't. She insisted on having her laptop said it didn't belong to us. He slapped her and she stood there pissed then yelled and went to her room. He was so disappointed an cried. He cried so heavily and said he couldn't do it anymore and wanted to leave. He left for a while and blew off steam. I feel his pain, he never wants to hurt his child. I know all he wants is a bottle to wash it away, but he didn't. He can't stay sober under the same roof as our teen now that he's trying. I don't think they are a healthy combination right now. I can barely stay sane with her myself sometimes. She used to do so well in school and lately she's just been online with whomever and started dating and just thrown her academics out the door. But the worst part of everything is just her bad additude. I feel like I need to make a choice. Either my husband and his sobriety or my rebellious teenage daughter. I feel like I need help with her. I can't ask my husband because he takes the blame for everything. Says he's just screwed up our family big time and cries and gets upset. I think she needs a boarding school were we can all have space. She wants to live with my parents but only because they will give her leeway to do whatever she wants. I mentioned a boarding school to her after last nights episode and she's just lashed out and refused. I don't know what to do with her. I'm at my wits end. Help!
If your husband really cannot handle being sober and being a parent, then maybe you need to think of other options. Your daughter needs you most at this time in her life, when nothing makes sense, but that she only wants to be with friends and dating. I don't know if any of this will help or not, but try to rebuild a relationship with your daughter and if your husband cannot step up to the plate in being a mature parent, then maybe he needs to go. I'm so sorry for all of this and I hope you get some clarity on these issues soon.
