I think I hate him. I want him gone. Since discovering (or finally realizing) this problem some months ago so much has changed. The trust is broken. My AH has been sneaking alcohol and its enough to drive me crazy! I've been searching his car and the house. I have been trying to Let God and Let Go but I still want to know what I'm in.
He told me last week that he figured he would be dead from drinking by now (he's 37). He also said he would rather drink and die than give it up.
I told him I didn't want alcohol in my home but he still brings it in. Ive asked for space several times now and he ignores it. I would just pick up and go but we have 3 kids and it's not so easy. This is starting to impact other areas of my life. It's been hard to get to and focus on work. I don't want to come home at the end of the day. I'm taking a break with my schooling because I can no longer focus and I'm more irritable with the kids.
I can't do this any longer!!! I hate him so much!! I realize this is an illness but I am struggling to separate the man I fell in love with from the selfish monster I see before me.
I feel so very much of what you have said in this post. I’m sure you feel anger, frustration, resentment and alone.
I feel this as well. I’m trying to work things myself, but it’s nice to have this platform to vent/share to help each other. It’s very hard to separate who they once were and who they have become. I’m struggling with the same. You’re doing all you can it sounds. All I can say is keep being strong and sharing your story.
You said it perfectly. The selfish monster... addiction creates narcissist's and the cannot see the debestation they cause.
There are basically three types of alcoholics and sadly your husband like mine and so many others' is the one that will never admit they are addicted. They will never seel help.
You focus on you. That is all you can do.
