Do any of you guys deal with your AH having seizures? My husband has had seizures three times this year and I am feeling like things will never get better with this man. I love him tremendously and he isnt always drinking but when he does he over does it and binges for like two weeks. Its an off and on relationship with booze. I guess he tries to stop but then picks it up hard and then he gets sick. Its been like this for years. I am so freakin tired of it. I always have to recover him from his drinking episodes. Like I said its not every day or every week but its at least every 2-3 months in a year that this happens. I have tried letting him suffer his withdrawals on his own but I always give in and nurse him back to health. Its routine now. OF course he apologizes and says he wont do it again but he never fails to disappoint with false promises. I too am at my wits ends!
I know what you mean my husband has had many seizures scared me to death and after words he does not remember anything. I think his was due to his sodium level being so low and the last was blood p as.
This is the hardest things to watch them distroy their own lives themselves
All we can do is pick up the pieces. My husband has fallen due to the seizures and damaged his back broke ribs and other things. But of course all this happen not due to the drinking ...:-(.
I know it sound terrible but I will be releaved when it all over . I'm so tired of his drinking and complaints
And never ending being so so negative . I hate coming home. At times.
Please many prayers for me too I know you are having a hard time too. I will hold you all all in my prayers too
Oh goodness. Not yet. But I have been worried about this lately. He drinks SOOO much, I think its just a matter of time before they start. Prayers for you both.
At first he would not go to the hospital . After the 3rd one within 24 hrs he decided to go.
They put him in the rehad but he signed himself out after the 2nd day.
He has not had any in the last couple of years but I look for them at anytime.
They don't scare me like before.I just hope if it kills him I'm not here I will do as always I will pick up the
Pieces. I know that sounds awful but that's all I can do now
Well my husband is Not phased by the seizures. He acts like I'm making a big deal out of it. He takes no accountability. I'm tired and really not sure how to proceed. I love him and I feel bad abandoning him. I am lost with what to do.
Thank you Lost in pain but I can't say I'm that strong I do love him in lots of ways and
The thought of him being totally alone breaks my heart.
I see he is getting weaker and more and more depressed.
I just keep on hanging on.
Rummi ..Bless your heart I know how hard this is many hugs and lots of prayers for you.
It all comes down to just how much we can stand..some days are less then others.
I know their is light at the end of my tunnel and love and happiness too.....I hope and pray
He doesnt want help bonblue. I have begged him to go to rehab and he says is doesnt work. He has gone to AAs and I have gone with him and he will just go through the motions but not ever commit to full sobriety. I am so tired of living this way. I am so torn by my love for him, my commitment to my marriage, and what i know is right for me. Im an educated woman and I have means to survive without him. So what the heck is my problem? I need to get a backbone and leave this relationship. Its either stay and watch him die close or go and let him die from a distance. Either way hes going to die. Im fed up with dealing with the stupidity of his actions.
So sorry to hear that you are going through this. My husband has had addiction troubles with both alcohol and drugs since I've met him, which was 18 years ago. I've seen it all and been with him both through addiction and sobriety. This past year, my husband has been on a binge. For the first 6 months of the last year, he was addicted to Vicodin. The last 6 months, it was back to Vodka again since he no longer can get Vicodin. He was in the hospital for 6 days this last week. The doctor said that if he was to drink again once he got out, he would be right back in the hospital again and possibly die because he is entering into organ failure. I lie to everyone about what is going on. I love him to death, but completely fed up and not sure what to do. I support the family (I have two kids, 13 & 11, who I am sure know what is going on, but we pretend its not happening). I don't know what to do. His family is not supportive and he has no one else. I honestly feel like I can't leave because he has no where to go. I know it's bad because he started drinking again once he was out. He says he doesn't know why. Over the last 18 year, he has overcome periods of addiction on his own as well as through rehab. This is the first time though that he is incompletely functional. Drinks 24/7, doesn't work, help out with kids, etc....He's a good person sober, but not when he is doing alcohol..I know if he doesn't stop, I will be a widow within the next two months. The doctor even confirmed that based on tests of various organs. I can't get him to go to a rehab facility, It's like he has given up on life, even though we have a good life, other than the addiction. I just don't get it.
Maybe it is time to let your family and friends know what is going on. Lying about it does nothing to help the situation. Telling the truth to others will take some of the burden off of you and might help your AH face the truth of what is happening. Maybe his family will even be a bit more supportive. I would also tell the kids that he is dealing with addiction and alcoholism. As you said, they probably already know. Not being honest with them is not helping them out -- they need to deal with the situation too.
If your husband has end stage liver disease or organ failure he is not going to always be thinking clearly or rationally. Just a warning on this one. He might end up drinking himself to death. Make sure you get support for yourself and your kids -- there isn't too much you can do for him. At this point it is up to him.
My husband has never had any medical issues other than high blood pressure and high cholesterol and Im not sure how. He drinks 24/7. He wakes up and drinks as soon as he can get out of the house and is staggering drunk when he gets home. One time he was in jail for 1 week and then shipped off to rehab while in rehab he started having DT's. We had to take him to a mental health facility so they could control the withdrawls. He was hallucinating, talking about stuff that never happened, his skin was cold and clammy. It was scary. He will probably go thru the DT's again if he ever stops drinking again, we are currently separated so I'm sure hes drinking 24/7. I dont know how long he can drink like this and not have some kind of health issue.
