Hello Wives! I just wanted to say hello and check in. The weekends are usually not good around my house. H loves the weekends bc that’s his big boozing time. He boozed hard last night. Like harder than usual. Not only do I hate that, but H also recovers the next day by “hair of the dog,” drinking the day away. And he’s SO lazy. Doesn’t do a damned thing. Just a wasted day/weekend. Anyway, does anyone else’s AH feel like they’re not doing anything wrong? After I berate H about his drinking, he asks “What did I do wrong?” I’m like WHAT?! I think he thinks bc he hasn’t done anything illegal, his drinking is completely acceptable. He just doesn’t get it. He is SO selfish that he can’t see what his drinking is doing to me and our kids. Anyway, I’m anxious about the upcoming holiday and with him having 4-5 days off work bc that just means an opportune time to booze. Ugh. Peace to us all!
My AH drinks steadily from early morning to after dinner, so it doesn't really amp up on the weekend or holidays. (lucky me!)
Yesterday (Thanksgiving), I watched him steadily drink, and while I will give him credit for keeping the dishes going in the kitchen and helping me clean, by the end of the evening he was obviously drunk and it was embarrassing when my dad came over. AH thinks he's so slick, but mouthwash doesn't cover the Mack Truck that hits you when he opens his mouth and the booze breath emerges.
This morning I got chewed out because I woke up at 5:30 with a need to go to the bathroom. After that, I was awake, so I let the dog out and started the coffee. AH woke up and informed me he needs his quiet time alone in the mornings and I was messing that up. I mean...its not like he uses that time to have coffee and read the Bible. He uses it to make a stiff cocktail. (shrug) Oh well....that put me in a funk and now I'm in a nasty mood. I know Al-Anon would not approve of me blaming my mood on the A's actions any more than the A can blame me and my actions for his drinking. So I'll own it and say I'm just in a mood! I may do a little Black Friday retail therapy from my couch and see if it improves.
im finding a lot of help here, i realize ,I AM NOT ALONE!!...my husband works third shift, on the days its time to get liquor or get to the liquor store or figure out when hes getting liquor, hes up , hes on it, hes raring to go hell even do a little bit of a chore or two...but because he works and i am in school ,..on sunday which where we live means no alcohol or when he has no money ..oh he needs a Theraflu , he doesn't feel well he needs to be in bed . he sleeps all day , and whe he sleeps all night too hes trying to tell me he was up several hours.
