If ti thought yesterday was a rant day....... Last night was over the top. A binge day for him, worse than usual. I came home from work to a house reeking of sour vodka, and a husband denying he drank and telling me I was hallucinating the smell. I tried not to engage, but he managed to suck me into an argument so I get upset, then I am the bad guy for yelling........sound familiar anyone? I left the house for a fun workshop, when I arrived home about two hours later, he was drunker.
I learned several things from him last night. First, it is my fault because I am pulling away, my reactions upset him, so he needs to drink. He is "not ready" for AA and only goes to placate me, he does not want to stop drinking and his " plan" is to drink socially and when out to dinner with me (????????) so he can feel normal. He says his therapist says that having a drinking day every two weeks or so does not sound so bad. Oh dear lord help me. Time to GO.

It's been a super long time since I have posted, but I had to when I read this! It's not funny, however I did have a chuckle when I read that his therapist said having a drinking day every two weeks or so does not sound so bad. Wow! Red flag that maybe either he needs a new therapist or he has gone to a level of lying about what the therapist said. Alcoholics can't have a "drinking day" ever because they are alcoholics. I really like to think that a therapist would never say or agree to such a thing. And, don't ever forget that EVERYTHING is our fault....they refuse to be accountable for their own behavior so therefore it has to be our fault...LOL! Bunch of very sick twists that we all deal with! :)

Yes, definitely sounds familiar! After being away from AH for 9 months I am amazed at the insane crap I put up with for 7 years. What I wouldn't give to get a 'do-over' and leave years earlier. Good luck to you!
