Hello everyone. So I have found myself here after years of crying and frustration. I feel lost and don't have any friends anymore. I have no one to talk to about my AH. Few people even know about it as he hides it well. I just wish there was something I could do....

I am in the same boat. I’ve been with my functioning AH for 10 years and I feel like the past decade has been a lie.

I am in the same boat. I refuse all invitations from our friends for any type of part where alcohol is served. Because of this I rarely get invited anymore.

Sometimes he does good but sometimes, he is just so damn annoying. Today I went shopping and to get our nails done with my mom and grandma. He said he would keep the kids and take them to get a new video game that they were supposed to get from being good. We went early in the morning. I get home around 5, the kids are taking a bath and changing clothes from THIS MORNING, the house is a mess, and they never went to get the game. I ask if they got it and he gets all upset and storms out of the house to go buy it only to find out the stores are closed. He told me he was going to clean the house and do everything. I am pregnant and keep asking for help around the house, but don't get it. My oldest is 9 years old and covers for him because he doesn't want us to fight. But my 4 year old will tell the truth. He says, daddy was sleeping all day. And it is clear when I get home that he had been drinking. I get so annoyed! I don't want to fight and argue but I just wish he would stop drinking, especially when it's just him and the kids and help me out! It's so annoying. But then I feel stupid for trusting him. I just always have hope that just once he will prove me wrong.

Does anything you all do seem to help? I have tried the begging, the crying, the threatening to leave, the ignoring him, the pouring out the alcohol, the fighting and arguing...practically everything. I don't know what else to try. I am 4 months pregnant and have two other kids. I feel like it's too late to up and leave. And I see hope now and then that makes me stay. I just wish I could see him sober more often and less falling down/passed out drunk. This morning, it was only like 7AM. I was still in bed and he was already slurring. The weekends are the worst. He stays sober enough to go to work and function. But after work and the weekends are my nightmare. :-( I work too and should be happy about having long weekends and days off, but the truth is I dread them because I know what I'm getting.

Sending love your way. Be strong and do what is right for you. Call your friends and family just to say hi and to not feel so alone. You do not have to tell them it all but find someone that you can lean on for strength. Nothing is easy and try to have little to no expectations good or bad as what his behavior is going to look like.

NOTHING (taps on microphone to make sure it is on) NOTHING IS EVER GOING TO GET BETTER, EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS A LIE.
