Wives of Alcoholics Community Group
A forum of healing and help for wives of alcoholics.
First day here, first time discussing this openly. I posted the story of this alcoholic relationship I have got caught into on my profile, which was a MAJOR weight off my chest just getting to type it. I have NO ONE to talk to, turn to, etc. I am going to keep this as short as possible, I can get detailed and carried away.
I am 7 months pregnant with my loving husband's baby. We got married in July of last year after knowing one another for 2 years before that (1+ year(s) was devoted to sobering him up and helping him start over). This month my husband (recovering alcoholic) relapsed after 1 year and so odd months of sobriety. He has come home AT LEAST 3 times that I know of drinking after work. Heres the issue... he is VERY VERY VERY good at hiding it, in the form of evidential proof that is. Though OF COURSE I know he's been drinking, I can't prove it to him (which I shouldn't have to). When I confront him about drinking (in a nice way) it immediately goes to "What makes you think I've been drinking? How did I buy it then? How do you think I would've drank after work?". First of all the smell sets it off first, then his eyes change, his attitude changes, his language changes, etc. The last 2 occurences it was a few beers, one he finally admitted to after I dug up enough proof that I knew. Today, it was MOUTHWASH!!! He had a problem with this after I met him, when he was broke. Now we have plenty of money, but he knows I can check the bank statements to see what he spends, so he has been counting change. I just helped him get his license back, he has a GREAT job finally (recently promoted), we have no debt, he has a loving wife, a daughter on the way, no stress what so ever and he did this to me again.
I can tell it's becoming a SERIOUS problem again, even though it just started. He is hiding it like he used to, and interrogates me instead of admitting to drinking. I am PISSED, FED UP, BROKEN HEARTED, SAD.....now add my psychotic hormones from this pregnancy and what do you have? An emotional, confused pregnant lady that would love to smack her husband right about now while he's snoring away. The main thing is I grew up in a home with an alcoholic step dad. I had to watch my Mom get emotionally abused my entire life, and had to deal with so much crap from him. I REFUSE to put my daughter through what I went through. She will be here in a few short months, and I don't know how to go about this situation.
