I am new to the group and can relate to every post I have read thus far. After 14 years of marriage, the alcoholism, betrayal, blatant disrespect, compulsive gambling, emotional/verbal abuse, infidelity, lies, manipulation, and narcississtic personality is overwhelming. How does one continue to live this way?
I've been with my AH for 11 years, and I know you have to let go emotionally. However I know how hard that is. I'll go for a while and not say anything (letting him make his own choices) and try just worrying about myself and our kids, but sometimes it's like I've shoved it all down and I let it all out one night when he hasn't came home till late drunk. Which I know never ends good, but the frustration just gets to me.
So my advice is to really separate your emotions and come to terms that he's not changing. Something that I still have to work on myself. So hard! But I think once we come to terms they're not changing then our attitudes towards them will change without having to really try. Also by just realizing that, we can focus on ourselves! Prayers to you!
