I left my husband over the weekend. Packed my childrens things and mine, got a storage unit, and am currently residing with my mom and dad. I feel stress free and even after talking to my husband about why and what needs to be done before we even consider being together again (Not filing for divorce yet) he proved me right. He's been drinking since I left. I understand he can't change overnight but I've been done with the drinking for years now. Still not the easiest thing in the world, but I'm realizing how much I was truly drowning in the marriage. I've just been in a better mood all around. I'm sure this is just a momentary feeling, but it's a feeling that I haven't had a while. Hello contentment!!
I moved out in January, by May I allowed him to move back in. I thought he had been sober. The whole time apart we were seeing a therapist, she suggested being apart for 6 mos. or a year. I now know I should have taken my time. I was very much at peace and out of the cycle then. Now I am struggling with my reactions to relapses.
Right on!! I'm glad you are setting firm boundaries aND sticking to them. I think once our AH realize we won't put up with their shit they need to stop or loose their spouses. It's a selfish addiction. Any addict is selfish.
Breathe! And relax, and enjoy this time :)
