With all that is going on, my husband and I still do a daily bible study during the week and one on Sunday. We are currently in the book of Isaiah, however, on Sunday we did a topical study titled 'Strength'. What a wonderful message there was to those who struggle, but a strong warning to those with a habitual sin, like alcoholism, followed by the message of repentance and forgiveness.
Fast forward to this morning...During our pastors Q&A segment, a woman wrote in asking how she can help her male friend that is an alcoholic; that he has come to her and says he wants to quit but keeps relapsing. He was compassionate and told her there was nothing personal she could do but pray and to call AA to ask those more familiar with alcoholism what she should do and he followed that by telling her not to be an enabler and allow him to hit his bottom without help.
There was a powerful silence in our living room and I knew I didn't need to say one word. I am so thankful and do not believe for one moment Sunday or this morning's studies were a coincidence. God truly has our back when we love Him enough to ask. I don't know it that means our marriage will work out or not, but I know I'm not alone.
