Wives of Alcoholics Community Group
A forum of healing and help for wives of alcoholics.
So Monday was our wedding anniversary and I pretty much wrote my ultimatum in the card I gave him, stop drinking or I leave. Well I think this time he knows I mean it. I told him I was tired of it, tired of having to repeat conversations to him, tired of thinking and worrying about his drinking all the time, tired of being married to an alcoholic. He asked if I knew how it felt to not be happy. I told him, yes, I know the feeling quite well, I haven't been truly happy in a good 6-7 years. I think I may have scared him enough to stop.
After trying to do it cold turkey all week, he called his Dr yesterday and asked for something to curb his alcohol cravings. He hasn't slept well this week and took yesterday off of work because his mind was all over the place. His Dr prescribed him a low dose pill that is supposed to help.
He started taking the pills last night. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It is the weekend, so let's hope he can make it through. I'm wrote list of small home projects that we've been putting off. Hopefully doing some of those will keep his mind busy.
