I’m so tired and drained. I’ve worked so hard at nursing my AH back to health giving everything of myself, and catering to his every needs that he’s been sober for about 2 months now. We were enjoying a night out and I saw a message on his phone that had just come in and long story short he’s been texting another women. Someone he’s never even seen before or met! She got his number from a friend or coworker and asked him to send her a picture of himself...I’m like WTH, his response was to send him one first. I can’t even deal with this. I told him about it which he denied was anything trying to blow me off like I’m an idiot. Sad truth is this is not the first time. Now he’s drinking again because he got upset so it’s a lose lose situation for me all the way around. So it seems he’s either drunk and boligerant or sober and texting other women to flirt for attention I guess. I’m not sure I know what I should do from here on out. I realized he needs a lot of help, but so do I. I don’t know how to move on from here because we have kids, and I’m sure he can’t and won’t allow me to move on if I tried. I don’t even know how to be treated well, I know there’s men out there who are faithful, kind, and loving and I wish this was my currrent spouse situation. I’m so depressed and unhappy right now. I thought everything was going well only to find out I’m an idiot. I feel humiliated...
I'm so sorry, they sure know how to sucker us don't they??? We give everything and nothing in return but more heart ache. The worst thing is they don't see anything bad in what they do, but for some reason if we were to do the same its just unforgivable! My AH of 31 yrs has been trying to find someone to talk to i've seen the messages but he hasn't found the right one that will listen to his crap I guess.... but he tells me i'm pushing him to find someone else! The fact is he's trying to find someone that will except his drinking. Just proves to me that our marriage has only lasted this long because i've stayed and pretended all was good with the world.... NO MORE.
Don't allow him to make you feel this way, you have done more than enough. It's so hard to hear but i'm realizing "Its never going to be better unless I make it better" took me 30 yrs to finally realize this. Sending you hugs and prayers!
Wow unbelievable I'm sorry...You would think all you've done and support he would be there for you for once when he's sober instead of doing the worst.maybe heslike my AH ..feels like he can't come to me anymore for emotional support because we know their "real" story and not going to listen to the crap they feed people that don't actually know their true hidden life...my AH use to do that...I find him emailing another woman about me..how much I don't do anything for him....some nerve!! So I truly believe they're just seeking sympathy or something that doesn't involve them n having to bring up their addiction..another way to escape the addiction without truly escapinh..which still doesn't make it okay.

I agree 100% with Alex265, my DRUNK AH seems to find great pleasure in telling other women how beautiful they are and him much of a sh*t wife I am (if they find out he is married) why because he feels so rubbish about himself but the alcohol won't let him tell the truth, it's easier to rubbish me than it is to admit he is an alcoholic and it feels good for them to get the sympathy of someone who doesn't live it day by day or understand what they are like. To the "others" we are nagging partners but to those that know we are simply desperate and beyond heartbreak.
Thank you ladies, this makes more sense. I can’t understand why he continues to do this, but you’re all right. He probably feels insignificant and loves the attention he’s given from other women. Once I told him to go for it better their problem then mine and he didn’t like that to much. He doesn’t cheat I know that, but he texts here and there those who will give him the time of day. Yet, he’s so jealous if anyone even talks to me. Double standards I know, but I try to avoid the fight. He’s drinking again tonight on a 3 day binge day and night so far, and he hasn’t talked to me either for 3 days! I guess he’s upset I busted him so it made a good excuse to tie one on. I’m having a hard time talking to my AH, I hate tiptoeing around subjects that will piss him off. He’s being a complete ass right now. Well tomorrow’s another day. Thanks for listening.
I need help!! I am married to a wonderful man, but his drinking has gotten out of hand, he only drinks at night so he doesn’t think it’s a big deal. He has admitted to me and his doctor that he does have a problem, but there is always a stressor that he uses as an excuse. He just went through prostate surgery and drank the minute he got home from the hospital. I need help in talking to him. He acts like nothing is wrong in the morning but then he starts drinking the minute he walks in the door. We have been married for 39 years. I love him to death but I’m lonely.
Hi Deb58, sounds like he is really struggling. Every little excuse will be used to have that drink, you can drive yourself crazy trying to stop him drinking but will only end up going crazy yourself. Try talking to him when he is sober, if he has admitted he has a problem then that's a good start, don't shout at him but tell him your worried. Ask him to to tell you how he is feeling and tell him you live him and want to help BUT tell him you can't help him unless he wants the help.
Has this happened before? Has he always been a drinker?
Just know we all understand your frustration, anger and desperation. We are all here for you x
I’m sorry Deb58. It’s hard to talk to an AH when they’re dringking. I agree maybe wait until he’s sober to try and reach him and make some sense at the real root of his problem. Then maybe he’d be willing to get help. It’s not an easy process at all. Stay calm when talking to him and try to stay away from blaming him for things. They love in a selfish world right now so try to remember that first. I’m sorry you too are going through this. It’s a terrible situation to have to deal with. Hugs!
