Hi all, hope everyone had a good weekend.
I was just wondering if anyone else's other half contradicts themselves?? Ie: my husband will say something when he is sober but say something completely different after starting drinking that contradicts what he said when he was sober. He will even argue about it saying that he did not say that when he was sober. Also, do you have to explain something to him several times because he forgets all the freaking time?? Geez.....I feel like I need a tape recorder so I can replay the conversations when he forgets......my luck he would say I faked it. LOL!
All I can say is it drives me absolutely bonkers, maybe that is why I am soo crazy.
Mine forgets what he says when he's drinking. He makes plans with other people (I know better than to rely on drunken made plans) then when they show up he claims he never made plans.
For a while I kept track of things in my calendar because I thought I was the one losing my mind.
I have the same problem, I know record all phone calls automatically and save them so I have proof. He actually has insisted we have more conversations through text only to prove I'm wrong! Works for me, he can't remember anything and its always my fault and I dont have to talk to him while he is slurring.....Granted living with him is killing my memory so it could be my fault :) Im about to ask him to tell him when he has been drinking just so I know not to have a conversation with him, there is no point, its really just him talking since he wont remember it.
Oh how well I know. He asks the same freaking question 4+ times a night and then the next night it is the same thing. He can;t remember anything the we have talked about but he can tell the same thing that happened at work that day three or four times. I just have to let it go in one ear and out the other or my headache will become worse.
Then when he has had more than he needs, he will stumble while getting up from the table. We have to make sure the dog is definitely out of the way or he would get hurt. Then all hades would break loose!!
I just don't get it. Guess it is not for me to get. All I do is ask for patience and to be granted the serenity to get through it all.
Thank you all for your kind replies and listening to me rant.
That sure is a common rant. When mine is sober, he has a better memory than me. He repeating questions or telling me the same thing is a sign that's he's drank, sometimes I can't tell because he hasn't had that much. I hate always saying "like I said the last 4 times......" I feel so bitter & ugly. I really don't like it. Good luck to you all :)
Yup, everything is always a different story when he's drinking, then the next day he'd tell me he didn't mean it or tell me that he didn't say something or say that I was making it up. "No sir!" Got that all the time. Argh!!! I actually got to the point that I just didn't believe what my husband said, sober or drunk. He always has a hard time answering the question, "Which one of you should I believe?" I love my sober ex-husband, can't stand by drunk ex-husband. It sure isn't fair is it??
It does drive us totally crazy....that's how we can put up with them..lol but
Sad

Hugs to you, my friend.
