So for the second time my husband gave up drink - he tried this time last year and he lasted 3 weeks this time 2 weeks it's soo frustrating because we as wives have to bare the brunt of it you feel disappointed and let down as you are hurled verbal abuse at you and this person you love with all your heart loves alcohol more than you and I can feel the drink level creeping back up he seems to be more and more drunk each day after work I think he thinks that if I don't see him drinking it doesn't count but I told him even when I don't see it I know but it's not for me its for himself to get betr he's meant to be seeing an alcoholic councillor on Tuesday tho I feel what's the point if he can't even try I can accept slip ups but I don't know if he's willing to keep trying so in the mean time me and the children are his verbal punching bags and it's just a matter of time before he get a DUI !!
Hi suemagoo! Over the last several years my Ah has manages a couple periods being alcohol free ( I cannot even consider it sober) . The longest being about 10 weeks. That exactly one year ago. I have made the mistake of trusting and set myself up for a devastating fall each time. Alcoholism is all consuming and only gets worse over time. At this point I am actively working on recovery FOR MYSELF. Detachment, firm boundaries, self care, and finally surrendering to the knowledge that I have no control over his choices, and most importantly none, none none of it is about me.
I have some great resources if you are interested.
Yes I would definitely be interested thanks as it gets very frustrating and on here is only real help I have my friends don't talk to me as much as their only solution is to leave him and when I say I can't and it happens again they just had enough my family are great support to me but they can't help not really
jms7229...i would like to know about your resources. I am in the same boat as you ladies. Suemagoo...my family is on the other end of the spectrum mainly mom who tells me i need to leave him and suck it up and quit crying because he is not crying and that i am weak. Its bad enough i am doled out such hateful words from my husband when he is drunk but to also be dealing with some tough love approach from my mother as if i am some kind of addict.
I have some great resources if you are interested.
