Wives of Alcoholics Community Group
A forum of healing and help for wives of alcoholics.
so big blow out last Thursday into Friday due to more broken promises. Drinking was under control for most of the summer and fall but started to escalate in December and he is now out of his mind. He had promised to return to therapy and discuss his depression and to honestly adderess his alcoholism with the therapist, but in last weeks " discussion" it was clear that he was quite angry about this " demand. " he "does not like to be told what to do" but actually relies on me to mother him and and police his behavior. Drunk and angry is not a pretty picture here. I decided last week that total detachment from his problems is the only way to go at this point. I cannot help him in any of his problems. He is angry he does not work due to disability although I think he could do some volunteer work or something he is angry that he is the house husband and takes care if everything ( even though no expectations have been placed on him) he is just plain angry. I find I am only mildly upset and interact only out of habit.
we had a fairly pleasant weekend, considering, I even invited him out to dinner with my friends and said not a thing as he drank his two martinis. But this morning I could tell he was working himself up and by this evening he is screaming at me about something. ( I am mildly sick and needed to go to the doctor but I was procrastinating I went and have a sinus infection so I'm in trouble????? )He says he has been thinking about last week and he us fed up with me telling him what to do!!! Welll that's the codependent behaviors I need to delete immediately. He complained that I handle his tranquilizers so I gave him the vial. Bad idea I know, but I am washing my hands of this mans sh*t. He says he needs to police himself hmmmmm don't think that's happening
and he keeps yelling that I need to shut the fuck up and he does not give a shit!
His life , as he imagines it, has just changed dramatically. I actually feel good about this. I've had enough.
Thank you all for listening and making me feel no alone
