Hello ladies! I just wanted to introduce myself since I just joined tonight.
I have been married to an alcoholic for 18 years and I also grew up with an alcoholic father. My Dad was an angry alcoholic and my husband too. Thankfully my husband's anger issues toward me have quieted WAY down after I separated from him for 3 weeks last year. He had quit drinking for quite a few months after that but has been back at it for the past few months and is getting deeper in more each day. It is so depressing and old. I'm sure you can all relate to that!
I have PTSD and serious anxiety issues from living in these environments. It's a real struggle some days.
But God has been my hope and my strength. I try not to waste my pain. I hope to be an encouragement to others and to pass on the things that have helped me.
I'm looking forward to getting to know each one of you!

Hello Kim, and welcome. You and I have a lot in common. I suffered from severe anxiety as a result of dealing with my AH, and didn't work for 4 years because of it. I have done a lot with therapy (and Prozac! ) to reclaim my life, and am now working again. My AH and I have been married for 19 years, and I also had an alcoholic father. I hope you find friendship, understanding and comfort here, and know you are not alone.

Hi Kim! Welcome! God is the source of my strength as well. My AH & I just celebrated our 40th and he is sober right now. We went to counseling with a Christian counselor 4 years ago, and God used that to open his eyes. He was three years sober after 10 years of hell and then fell off the wagon a bit this last year, but is sober again. He travels for work, but has been home 10 days and we are praying together daily, listening to sermon podcasts, etc. I found it helpful in the years of the his dtunken anger and my increasing anxiety to compile scriptures to pray for him. My adult kids & a few close family members joined me in this. I prayed them daily for about three years. We serve a big God! I will be praying for you and your husband. Hugs.

Welcome!. I pray for everyone here and our husbands as well. It can be the most isolated, lonely road we are on, and I thank the Lord for this site for us!

Hi Kim...I sure could use some an encouragement to get me through the rest of the year. I've been married 22 years, the last 2 years he has been drinking again. He was sober for 12 years in between. So it's been so confusing to have him not be able to stop this time...he did it before, why so hard this time. What has helped you get through? I love him and don't want to separate. I want to be by his side but can't imagine another year of this life. I am a woman of faith but sometimes I feel like he relies on that. I hope that we all have a decent weekend.
