Today marks exactly 6 months since my alcoholic husband walked out and never looked back. Today I miss being a family and him. This week will be our 14th wedding anniversary and I am so glad that I have kitchen duty at an alanon meeting. I am getting past the pure trauma of this event (we had many problems) but I never saw it coming. I miss my real husband who is underneath all of the drowning and shoving of emotions. I miss the guy who tried really hard to be a good husband and dad before he progressed in his disease. I hate this it is so sad....such a loss of so many dreams and hopes.

Its great that you are still attending alanon for support. My husband left last winter for 3 months. I recently had to force him out of the house...again. Don't give up on working on you! I'm sure you are finding out that you are stronger than you ever knew possible. There has to be some light in these dark situations, although we may not see the light right away. The hurt is intense, but with the right support we can over come. I will be praying for peace in your situation.
