Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. I have bee participating in the DS friend and family of addicts group, and only just now stumbled upon this. I love the idea of specifically wives of alcoholics. I look forward to interacting with you all.
My husband of 30+ years is one of those " he will never get it " kind of guys. Same story, different details, I'm sure. Today would be a great rant day, but I already ranted in the other group, so I will spare you today.
Happy to be here!
my husband is a 30 years and will never get it either. tonite i came home from work and he was cooking dinner which he usually only does when he is drunk. everything i said was "attacking" him and all i said was i didn't want fried onions but a raw one on my hamburger and i didnt want the bun toasted meant to him that he didn't no how to cook. i tried to keep calm but did lose my temper and asked him what the hell was wrong with him even though we both knew he was drinking. so i ended up eating a not very good hamburger i only ate half gave the rest to the dog. he then started yelling at the news and the weather girl before he said he was going to bed, thank god! it would be nice to come home from work and not have someone be so verbally nasty. i think more about leaving, but the timing isnt good now. but then that makes me feel sad because when he is sober he is a good guy and i like being around himso i dont want my marriage to end but my daughters are in college and wiil soon be on their own and i'm alone with a drunk.
Feeling - you sound just like me. I am actually jealous that my daughter found an apartment close to her college and that leaves ME alone with the drunk. No one to "share the love with" - this is going to suck. He is also a good guy sober and everyone loves him. But unfortunately he drinks and doesn't seem to think he has a problem so it will never change, until "I" decide to change it. And right now, I am not ready to. It's hard when there's changes at work and you have to adjust and then you come home and you don't get a break there either....
well i ranted for you ims7229, glad you posted.
It's hard. It's hard to leave it's hard to stay.
Anyone not married or does not have kids with their alcoholic boyfriend?! RUN.
I have endured the verbal nasties and it's always so tough after work and when they twist everything!
