Just curious.... How long does your AH continuously drink? My AH can not stop once he starts drinking for days at once. Today is his day 13. I told him it's about time to get sober this morning. He got mad, called me a b-ach and left to go have some more. Typically, his drinking lasts 10 - 14 days at once. Then he would go his health-kick for 30 days, sometimes shorter. The longest he stopped drinking was for 2 months, but typically 2 - 4 weeks at max.
Oh, BTW, he loves to cook, but it is so dangerous when he does while he is drunk. He has cut his finger and bled really bad so many times. He served me a fish dish on a bloody plate a few days ago. Sorry for the disgusting story, but I just had to let it out :-(
My husband drank to the point of being so drunk that he could barely make it to the bedroom every single night...so, I think it just depends upon the guy. He had nights where he drank a little more and could not make it to the bedroom, or up the porch steps, or even out of his car. He had nights where he drank a little less, but was still drunk.
The only time my husband didn't drink was from 630a-3p...when he was at work...or so he says. I often wondered about that. He kept beer in his car so that he could have one as soon as he was off. He often started drinking by 9 or 10a on the weekends and went until he couldn't walk anymore.
My husband, in the entire time we were together, only went one 2wk stint where he "quit"...but I even doubt that because I found empty bottles hidden in his car. He has been sober now 103 days...but after the week we've had, I honestly expect a relapse. I know that sounds terrible...
My stbx AH is a functional alcoholic and does his best to restrain himself and leave it to happy hour until late on weeknights and then the weekends are a free for all. Frequently on Monday's he would just mope around hung over and miserable. Sometimes he would drink then too.
I am seeing a lot of different patterns already and only 3 of us responded. Alcohol is sloppy in it's patterns!
And there will never be a rhyme or reason, it took me a very long time to admit this. I do see patterns of behavior overall but then again...
not drunk during the day. Sleeping off the effects from the night before. Drunk almost every night. Would go periods without drinking EVERY night, but definitely out more days during the week than not.
I am soooooo glad that the insanity is no longer part of my life. Sometimes I look back during that time frame and say ''just what did I not understand?'' However, I have made ammends to myself for choices made and those not made. My life is now my own and it is glorious.
I dont think my AH will never quit as much as he has been through and still going thu he still chooses to drink im not sure how much anymore because he has got real good at hiding it. He still get stagery drunk and he thinks I havent got a clue .
I hope that one day he will but I honestly dont see it happening
Hugs and prayer for you
Every day is a new day we just have to make the best of them.
My hubby drinks Captain Morgan up to 8 hours a day but he is also a functioning alcoholic so he still gets up to go to work the next day !? If he didn't have a drinking problem, he'd be the perfect guy with all of the qualities I love. But because of his drinking problem, I cant help but look at him with disgust.
