There are always fireworks and family or friends get together to celebrate but I will probably be on my own as kids will be out celebrating and I live with my son so he will probably be out with his girlfriend but he may pop in and so may my daughter but the actual time of seeing the New Year in I will be on my own which is strange and I am not yet used to it.

We don't have traditions in my family.... in fact my husband and I are so boring we just go to bed like we normally do. LOL

we won't be celebrating new years either i'll probaly be in bed asleep lol i'll unplug the phone and turn my mobile off then carry on as usual, i cant go out anywere as i dont have a sitter and to be honest i just want to get rid of this awful year and forget it ever happened

Our partying days are in the past but husband and I toast each other with a glass of sparkling cider and try to stay awake to watch tv and the ball drop at midnight in Central Park, NY.

Me too ocean - that is the extent of my celebrating the new year coming in .

I don't have any traditions anymore. We so stay up and watch the ball drop in NYC. One year when I was much younger, I went to NYC to see the ball drop. It was horrible. Soo crowded, I thought I was going to be trampled to death. I could not wait to get out of there and go home! Needless to say, I never did that again.

I'll be working on New Year's Eve till 11, i'll be home to watch the ball drop, but won't do anything special!

No I just stay at home always.

Still have a 'first footer' The first person to knock your door and wish you happy new year usally has something with them, coal ,food or alohol !!! if ours is quiet I send Son or Hubby out just before midnight: :) better if their tall and dark haired apparently !!!! :@ We also have a toast at midnight. Even if we have been out the first footing is important !
Some people woudnt want to go out if they didnt have a first foot !!! strange but true... traditions passed down the generations !
ALSO opening A or All windows slightly or wide,,,, to let the old year out and the new year in :-D and kisses all round here in Bonnie Sotland xx

I have heard of first footing Jenn but didn't know what it was or where it hailed from good to hear traditions still hold dear. I have relatives who came originally from Scotland but I now live in the South East of England where I was born. I like New Year especially if the last year had been a bad one, it gives us a chance to wipe the slate clean and start again. Love Sharon
