I am reminded often of an old saying about being lonely in a crowd of people. In fact, sometimes I find that being with others is worse than being alone. It all depends on the day, the hour, the minute, etc Been 1 year for me and it does get a little better.....somtimes. One never knows when this roller coaster will take a steep dive. Almost 9 months for me, too. I understand how you feel.
I had a lovely Easter with my daughter-in-law's family, but it's not the same as it was before.

I was with good friends and my family as well today but felt so lonely! I purposely kept busy making dinner and trying to entertain. I just wanted an Easter like we always had but when everyone went home....well. But I have to move forward. I like to think my husband would be proud that I gave the day my very best. One thing I did notice was when everyone was leaving they each gave me a longer hug. Like they know I am hurting which I appreciate. Tomorrow I will try and do my very best again.

Almost 11 months for me and I feel this same way quite often. Just trying to figure out how to handle the rollercoaster. There are ups and downs but it doesn't stop. Hugs

I guess that pretty much sums up what we all must try to do, even when the days seem so very lonely. We're all in this together ... and that helps!

Yes, I can feel alone in a room full of people. Friday evening I was invited to a Tastefully Simple tasting party by the young woman we adopted our dog from.....I thought there would be others from the rescue there, I was wrong.
About half of them brought their husbands and I knew no one there except the hostess.....I started to panic, really panic as I was out of my comfort zone, my home.
I placed a small order and left....cried all the way home. I am no good at this.

Wow...I thought I was the only one who felt like this! I'm so sorry we all have to go through this. Does it ever get easier? It's exhausting to feel like you have to always put on this fake smile when you are hurting so bad inside. I have found on this journey that a lot of people just don't understand...how do all of you deal with this?

I am not sure that anything actually makes it better. I concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other and doing the best i can.

I am at 8 mths now and it still feels like only yesterday that he died. They all think I am so strong, family, friends, work mates and bosses, they do not know that I am dying inside. When I am with people I put on a front and just shut down to get through. I am either feeling hollow and empty and toughing it out or I am in total emotional pain. I have just spent Easter with my family and am now away on my first holiday by myself since Peter died, 4 days in Singapore. We liked to travel, had just started doing so, oh the plans we had made. Our past future that will never be ! I found myself becoming fearfull about doing things that I previously took in my stride so decided I needed to do this as I was starting to feel afraid that if I did not take a first step I never would. Did not leave the hotel yesterday but am determined to get out and explore today as if he is still with me. Feeling sad, afraid, lost but determined. I will get through this next first and survive it as well and hopefully build my confidence at the same time.

"It" becomes bearable. "It" becomes something that we live with, along with living our present life. The memories made us smile, instead of torturing us. We begin to feel grateful for what we had, rather than what we lost. It is a physical hurt that heals, but the scar remains. Hugs, Sharon

It gets better, it takes time. Logically you know you won't get your old life back, but your heart will hang on and on and on. I wish you better days ahead.
