I lost my husband in January. I have been doing ok but from time to time I get really sad and tears rolling down .
But I have to remember what my husband told me before he died . He said "remember the good memories ". As hard as it is to do. I try to do that .

Lately I'm finding it's getting harder not better. I put things off. I feel sometimes that I'm wondering with no purpose. I go for walks and my mood gets worse not better. I'm not sure if this is comforting or not or just more depressing. Sometimes knowing how others feels helps? Just remember every time you recognize something your doing, your acknowledging it. These are positive things. If you don't know what your doing you can't make the decision to correct it. Hugs to you.

Yes, for me the worst was about 6 to 7 months where it all just hit me and I felt devastated. Now at around 20 months, it's better, except certain days.

I was exactly that way too. I thought I was going crazy, losing my sanity. It scared me. But things changed for the better when I went back to work. My faith and trust in God is also a HUGE help. I'm not out of the woods yet and I still have bad days once in a while. But I learned to just take it a day at a time, not think of the future, and just focus on the present moment. Keep coming back to this support group. You will find comfort in knowing that you're not the only one going through this journey... Hugs to you...

I lost my husband on 12/24/16, and like you I thought I was handling it ....but I was really in shock. Jack's death was very unexpected, a massive heart attack. The realization of his being gone is just now starting to hit me. People have told me that the loss of a loved one really hits you after about 6 months. I also recently joined this group and I'm finding it very helpful. Also, I found a widow/widower support group that I will be attending when I get back to my home in Wisconsin. This is a journey that none of us want but it is one that we will get through......sending you hugs.

Your life has been changed in a most profound way, but the good news is , you are not alone. We all experience ups and downs. This is a whole new world for you. He will always be in your heart and yes, you can talk to him whenever you want. I'm happy that you found a support group, they can be a great help if just to get you out of the house. I go to two of them and it has helped me greatly. I lost my wife seven days after you lost your husband. You were shoved into the river of grief and that really hurts.
Don't listen to people with their false timetables and don't let anyone tell you that you should just get over it. Your grief is yours alone and all I can say is that there will be days when you won't want to get out of bed or leave the house. That's to be expected, but in time the good days will outnumber the bad.

I am so glad decided to join this group and I appreciate all your replies. This is not the first time I've lost anyone close to me and it's never easy. Two of my adult sons are also gone, My husband was a lot older than me, was very sick for a long time and knew I would lose him. Having had previous losses, I naively thought that I could handle it, This was my second marriage and we were together for 30 years.

I lost my husband 11/30/16. What you are feeling is exactly how I feel. I never had times of not crying but did have better days. Other than my amazing daughter friends and family have been avoiding me because they don't know what to say or do for me. This sadness loneliness is consuming me.

My husband died unexpectedly, no health issues, he came home said he was starving. I told him I made his favorite cake and we could drive through some place to pick up something or go somewhere. He said let me think about it...then he got up from the chair and went into the kitchen. I heard a noise, I thought he was getting a piece of cake, then I heard another noise and I got up and asked if he was okay...when I reached the doorway, he was on the floor and I knew he was gone within a couple of minutes. My daughter ran down and we did CPR but to no avail.

I lost my husband to pancreatic cancer 4 years ago. We had 5 months together before he went to be with Jesus. We had such a great relationship. I still look for him or think I need to tell him about something that happened. My Dad died 4 months ago from a heart attack. He and my Mother lived with me following the loss of my husband. They would sometimes get angry with me and leave and go and stay with my sister. I felt like it was another death when they left. It is hard to understand how grief impacts people. I didn't have enough to give anybody. I slept a lot, let the house go, and questioned how to go on. I am better now. I know I will see my husband and my Dad again someday. However; I am crying now as I write this because I miss them so, much. My Mother is living with me and now she is going through the same grief. It helps to push yourself to join groups. I started to go to a Bible study and a home church. I am going to push myself now to join an additional group. It is so hard to go without my husband. Cry when you need to. I tried to act like I was okay before I was and it broke me. I try to think about his and my Dad's joy now and how they have no tears. My Mother tells me they would not want us to be so sad. However: grief has it's own timetable and we have to cry and later laugh and rejoice because we had that unbelievable time together. Don't beat yourself up for not being perfect. nobody is. Your in my prayers. I know what you are going through and I wish you hope and healing.
