Why Im Still Here

A while back someone wrote about the "old timers " moving on. Im still here for a lot of reasons. Dealing with this grief will be life long for me. I will always miss her and wish she was here. Shes not here so I will need to live my life the best I can. Even at 25 months I still need support at times. I do well most of the time but there are still those times that are very hard and its great having a place to go where they "get it. Those further along can give me advice while I can give some to those following me. None of us want to be here but it is nice to know your not on this road alone. The grief becomes much more bearable but changes to other issues over time.
I want to thank everyone for opening their hearts and sharing especilly the CL's who help guide us on this journey.

Kudos Russ! I also commend our C.L.'s and depend on DSWW for strength when needed and paying it backward when the newbies need it. (Although I still consider myself somewhat of a newbie at 12 mos.) As I've said before I KNOW I wouldn't be as far along on the grief journey as I am without the knowledge, support and encouragement of our members here. So . . . with that said . . .

you are so right my dear. When I posted the one you refer to, I was just depressed because this does often feel like a never ending journey, and I had just had a really bad fall and mighty sorry for myself!
I am indeed here for newbies and oldies alike because DS saved my sanity. People will never know all they gave to me when I was going through the lowest moments of my life. If I have not said this at the time, I want each and every one to know that my gratitude is heartfelt indeed. Their generosity, their love, is unbelievable. xxxxxx

I could not possibly have said it any better. I'm a little over a year and a half on this journey, and I am also grateful to everyone here for helping me along the way. I may not post as much as I did at the start, but I'm here every day to read. If I can offer help to someone else, I will. I continue to be sustained by the comments and experiences of others here.

Yes, thank you to the C.L.'s and all of you on DS!! It has been my salvation knowing I am not alone. The support we give each other is a blessing. I would not be as far along in this journey as I am without all of you. Thank you for posting this Russ.

Well said Russ and thank you also for sharing. I'm still here and regretting I didn't participate early on, it would have benefited me greatly but for some reason I just couldn't find my voice. Well, not for some reason, it was because I felt I didn't deserve a voice. That has since changed. This site has always been a place of solace for me and I wish to thank everyone as well.

Very true Russ. At 26 months, I do not come here everyday but I come often and read the posts. I would not be where I am today without the support and help of all of you.

DS has been my salvation and sanity when I was in a very dark place. I still miss my husband and always will but the pain is ebbing and I can carry on with my life, knowing now how precious it is. DS has helped me to express my deep sorrow and to feel understood when I needed it most. For this, I am most grateful.

I'm at 5 years, and don't always post, or visit here often. I used to try and help out the newbies, but then it gets hard to do, with the raw pain you feel in the beginning. Yes, I have moved forward, dated some, feel better, trying out new things, figuring out what "I" like doing. I visit "Hopeful Hearts" more, since I feel I can offer more to people that have moved on in their grief. I check in, every now and again and comment, if I think I can help.
