First off I am so sorry for your loss. It's sad but once a widow/widower always one. I appreciate when the long time members give there insights. It's been 2 years and 5 months and I would not have survived without DS. I also lost my Tim very unexpectedly when I was 52.

I have continued to come here to DS even though it's been 2 years and 4 months since Sam died. I may not post quite as much, but I'm here reading every day. Just knowing that I am not alone on this journey gives me a little bit of strength each day.

You are not alone, Nicker07. I lost my husband in 2009 and found this site a year later. I feel the same as you too. Everyone grieves differently, and this site still helps me know that we are all connected and continue to help each other.

It's always good to hear from you, and I am glad you still come here. :)

Hello. It will be 5 years March 12th my DH passed came here about 2 weeks after.
I still come noe and then to see how others are doing and gives me peace sadly that I'm not alone.

I too keep coming back, not always to post but to read. I think it does help me to post as I believe we that have walked this path longer can maybe help those just beginning their lonely trip. It's been a little over 3 years since Donna passed. I joined in October of 2012 just a month after she passed. The folks here and the friends made hear kept me from falling into the abyss. Thank you all for that!!!!

For once I don't like being a, newbie, wouldve rather not have been either an oldie or newbie Just as I know, the ones who have been here since this group started years ago. I will say I am priviledged to be amoung those who are able to help me cope, and push forward, and show me that I am not sufffering alone. Thanks to all the oldies, and newbies, and those in between. I think I'm no longer a newbie, but that inbetween, as my husbands one year anniversary will be here, before I know it; march 1st. Well, I qualify as an oldie on both levels. Lol. I'll be 70 years old in March and I lost my husband 8 years ago last June. I have been here since November of 2007 and like others have said I don't know how I would have gotten through this if not for the people here those first few years.

Now I come here to fulfill my life with the purpose of being able to help others. I have accepted my husband's death and am living a happy life. It's not the life I planned. It hasn't "cured" my grieving, there is no cure. But you can and I have built a new life respecting my husband and living a complete life. Sharon

I'm an oldie too, going on five years. This site helped in my healing so much and I appreciate all that everyone shares and cares. It's mutual support here, helping each other rather than a counselor and just receiving help and advice. Although I didn't do counseling I think it would be hard to not always have in the back of your mind 'you don't really know....' Hugs to all from the wintry Midwest.
