Like always we have to stick close as neighboring field blast fireworks for hours, which excites the horses, and they run around so we have to pen them up. BUT this year my pastures, corrals etc are all iced over....so trying to figure out which is least of the issue....sigh

And while I get a good view of all the fireworks it goes on forever and ever....
But a friend is coming over - we will eat have a few drinks and watch horses....with fireworks..

Went to "War Horse" with daughter yesterday - was a good story, with lots of effects.... I am the person who knows all those horses did not die but trys to see if the bodies are of one horse laying down or several and how did they get all them horses to do it.....

I'm glad you'll have company for New Year's eve. I hope your horses don't get too spooked by the fireworks. Have a nice time.

I have my Jack Russell curled up on my recliner with me and my cat on the back of the couch. My husband was a musician and I was used to attending a party every year. He was too sick to play last year and we spent a quiet evening at home. This year will be my first NYE in my life that I've been alone, but I'm okay with it. I'll probably be in bed by 10 at the latest. I'm just enjoying the time off of work that I'm spending with my pets.

Nicker, sounds like a a good time...hope the horses don't too chilled or spooked though.

Am home with my 2 inside cats, carpenter ants, outdoor bunnies-coons-snakes, and my precious memories.

Happy New Year to everyone here at DS. I have been looking at our photos from family trips today. New Years Eve was always a special time for my husband and I, and we celebrated our 'couplness' if you will. Tonight, I plan to be here with my dog and watch some TV, and will probably fall to sleep early.

I'm going to be alone for the first time.. We never went out in our married life.. We always had our parents in but when they passed it was just the two of us.. Ken always made a small lunch for midnight.. My Sister and her Hubs were to come but I have one heck of a cold and I don't want them to get it.. I am no longer a Order In Virgin..lol I've never in my life ever ordered food in to be delivered.. Ken our our children did it.. I ordered Chinese food as we always went out on the day before for a Chinese food buffet lunch, I have enough chinese food for days.. lol
So it is me and my new furry baby Sir Allistar Sims . We will curl up in my chair with the snuggy on and watch the World Junior Cup Hockey Game.. My gf's son is one of the goalies for the Canadian team but I've heard he isn't in goal tonight.. Go Canada Go..
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.. MAY THIS NEW YEAR BRING US ALL PEACE TO OUR LIVES..

I am making a nice dinner for my son who is home from college, he is going out later. I plan on relaxing with a couple of movies. I have been fighting a cold all week, so looking forward to doing nothing.

I'm going to stay home and welcome the New Year with Fred, Ginger, and Charlie. Charlie is my bird and Fred and Ginger as in Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

I'm going to send my best wishes to all of the DS members here and I'll probably turn in before the ball drops about four hours from now. A buddy visited for Christmas, but it's just me and my cat for New Year's. My wife and I didn't make a big deal of New Year's Eve...it was hit and miss whether we'd both be awake at midnight. I hope 2012 is at least incrementally better for everyone. Take care.

Was up til 3 am with neighbors fireworks. Spent first 1/2 hr convincing my horse not to jump fence. Reason: the small pen I normally put them in so they can not run around was so icy I had to put them in my smallest pasture they have not been in for awhile. Once he say the Old guy settle down he just paced around.

But fantastic fireworks just a little too long and too much partying loudly for me...even though in country they have a large pasture area they set off fireworks NY eve every yr.

My lab did not like them at all...
