Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

- about my newer red Beetle
- about the garden chores being all done
- about getting estimates on a new roof and how expensive it is
- about his old employer still giving me coverage
- about the house flooding because a hose going to toilet burst
- everyone is doing great
- how his kids rallied around me, he would have been so proud
- I made up a new will and included your children in it.
A lot has happened. I wish you were by my side. Life without you is a b*tch.
And I would tell him he was wrong about a lot of things---I am most definitely NOT too good for you; I DID get my book done and published; I did NOT die of a stroke before you could die of a heart attack; a yak farm in Idaho would NOT have penciled out to be lucrative; the Celtics and Green Bay did NOT bring home championship rings; and the causes you championed DID matter and still do.
Most of all I would just say "thank you" for a few big things and a million little things that changed my life for the better forever. I was able to experience that "I've got your back" kind of love that is a rare find and I am still able to feel that support today. As a matter of fact, I DO tell him these things and more on a daily basis. I was incredibly blessed to have found him and remain blessed by his continued influence in my life.
Too many times, "really important" things took priority.
I would tell him that I am sad it is to be alone.
I would tell him that his lack of showing the boys respect for me has left scars.
I would tell him thank you for taking care of things. For all the little things that I always thanked him for and gave him pats on the back for really did matter the most.
I would tell him that I want to walk into the garage and find him there putzing on some project. That I miss his scent. Touching him and kissing on him. I miss being us.
I would hope to hear him say that he now understands how much I loved him....
Why, Joe? Why did you do it? You KNEW that I would be hurt, once I found out.(he will know what I'm talking about)...and I wish I had his answers.
I still love you and always will.
I MISS you!
Our children miss you almost as much as I do.
I love my puppy you were buying me for Christmas. She is a lot of company since it is only she and I. She loves to sit in my lap.
Our 2 oldest grandchildren are now in their first year of college.
Our 7th grade granddaughter (only girl) is a JV cheerleader @ our alma mater & her brother
Our lil 4th grade grandson is playing football @ our alma mater.
Our 7th grade grandson is playing football too (not at our alma mater)and his lil brother still hates football!
Our son's football team has 3 W & 3 L, and I'm going to his game tomorrow. As the coach, you know hon, he has done great.
ALA is doing GREAT this year, after winning Nat'l Championship last year.
I really wish you could have watched your daughter play semi-pro women's football this past spring and early summer. She is good, like you and her brother.
Your 2 oldest brothers' health is steadily declining.
I told you to get those tests done!!
I know, though, in my heart, that the test probably would not have made a difference. You still would not have had surgery, not w/o a fight. I have to believe that it was your time and either way, you would have been gone.
Being your widow is HARD! I miss you and love you always........
I would also tell him about April. I would tell him that she is growing and maturing into a beautiful and smart young woman and how proud he should be of her for being such a resposible and mature 16 year old.
But of course, I don't need to tell him. He already knows this and is watching over us every single day.
I would tell him that I was wrong about his brother, he has been a great support to me and has become a friend. I would tell him that I miss him like crazy.
thank you for giving me strength
thank you for making me feel the understanding of true love
thank you for caring about how i was feeling
but most of all thank you for being so proud to call you my husband
being your wife was the best thing to happen in my life
i will love you always.
