Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Thankful for:
1. all the friends and relatives that have called or emailed to check on me. I have a great support group.
2. Finding out that I can do a lot of the things that my husband did for me.
3. SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER..... BR-R-R-R RIGHT NOW.
4. My can-do attitude and ability to keep myself busy.
5. My part time job that keeps me busy and my mind feeling like it is used.
6. My two children that are always willing to come help me with the big projects
7. My little piece of heaven here in the country.
8. A lifestyle I am happy with and can keep as long as I am frugal.
9. A black lab that thinks she is my sole protector and a cat that misses her "dad" but comes to me for cuddles.
10. A God that is good and gives me strength.
1.) the friends I did not know i had that were revealed to me after this tragedy.
2.) this one is hard..I am thankful my wife no longer suffers from all of the horrible things she had to on a daily basis...
3.) I am thankful for "light at the end of the tunnel"..for the HOPE i now have
2) For my 2 dogs who were pretty much my sole support system (except for DS)
3) The fact that my son was living here when Michael passed
4) The fact that he now has his own place :)
5) The terrific job I found after looking for a year
6) That year alone that I had time to reflect & learn & cry when I wanted and talk out loud to no one or whoever was listening from above. Times did get lonely but I do believe I healed much faster because all I had to do was concentrate on me, not work, not anyone else but me.
family and friends! Could be homeless and sad but I am not!
being able to pass God's resources on to someone who needs them now that I do not
very thankful my husband is no longer in horrible pain
that each day is new regardless of how yesterday was!
For him being here to see our children become adults
To see our granddaughters born
To know his love and respect
To watch him leave this world with dignity and grace.
To have healed and learned from him in life and death
And to have found love again that is good and pure. Sharon
1) every day is a bonus day
2) You never saw a tombstone that read I wished I had worked harder or longer
I wish there was one for the loneliness
1. A loving, caring, sweet, kind husband for 32 years.
2. A home that is paid for.
3. My health that enables me to work and support myself.
4. God who will never leave me ( even when the devil says he has).
Hugs to all!
It makes you think, there is always something to be thankful for. I started a gratitude journal for awhile and wrote down 10 things I was thankful for, everyday. Some were as small as having a computer to keep in touch with people, my dog, for just being here. Having a job, a home, family.
Great subject.
Paula
2. That Don is no longer suffering.
3. A great friend who has traveled from TX to IN to be a support to me no less than 3 times and once she stayed for a month. Now she plans to come back in April and help me move to TX.
4. Great family who has been emotionally and financially supportive and is giving me a place to live.
5. That I am beginning to feel like living again.
6. For my very cuddly cat who has allowed me to cry into his fur more than once and he has done so with much dignity! :-)
