I can't tell you how many times I've told myself "tomorrow will be better." Sometimes it has been; other times not so much. But we keep putting one foot in front of the other, and after a while the tide starts to turn.

Some days the numbness affects everything I do. It disrupts every part of my life in ways I never expected. I don't think about it because my mind isn't with it and I still do stupid things. If you have the gift of sleep that's great because some only get a few hours each night. Pets are a comfort, distraction and sometimes a pain in the butt.

As heart wrenching as it, is you are doing what you must do. There are no shortcuts for grief, and you are head long into it. You will find this to be a journey you never imagined. None of us knew, until we found ourselves on the same road. Keep reaching out, you will find kindness and the support of others on this journey to be of great help.

I am sorry for your loss. When I read, "This evening I went through 'I can't believe this happened.'" I knew exactly what you meant. While needing to sooth our hearts though the intense pain, we are hit with the unbelievable fact that our husband or wife has died. It just can't be. But sadly it is true, and time does help us cope with our loss. Take care and keep coming back to DS - the people here will help you more than you can imagine.

Isn't it weird.....the different emotions that can come at us from every direction!

Some days if someone says the wrong thing to me I feel like I have to go off and hide. I chose to continue to be in the work force and sometimes I can barely get through each day and I do mean barely.

I have a big, Black Lab who thinks that my lap and life belong to him. He doesn't fit in my lap but he sure tries. Some days I just want to send him back to his own bed and LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

Go ahead and cry, good thing I can't see or hear you because I would cry right along with you, as I'm sure a lot of others would too!

Hang on, it's UP and it's DOWN and sometimes ALL AROUND, this ride that we're on.

Hate to say it, but welcome to grief 101. Yes the emotions are all over the place. No need to feel guilty for any feelings you have because you truly have no control over what they are or when they come at you. When the pups start their doggie antics, try to take a breath and stay in their moment. sometimes I call it changing the channel and sometimes it helps. They can be irritating, but also entertaining. Take the diversion when you can get it. If you are able to sleep use that to get through some of the rough times too. I personally only sleep 2-3 hrs at most a night, but if I can escape for an hour during the day I will take it. I am an independent contractor so I have a flexible schedule and work from home. I wish you better days soon. Until then we are all here for you. Robyn

This emotional roller coaster is just that. You're up, you're down, you're numb, you feel nothing. I guess if this site has taught me anything - - is too just roll with it. Don't feel bad or guilty about any feeling you are having or not having. It'll change on a dime.
I feel for you and wish you all the luck coping with this great loss we are all suffering through.
