Well here it is, another lonely weekend. Today will be the 3 month anniversary of my husbands death. I still can't wrap my head around it. So far I haven't cried today just a little tearing up. I try to make plans with somone on the weekend but it doesn't always work out. I know I have to work this out but for now the emptyness in the pit of my stomach is stonger than the will to do something about it. I know there are alot of you out there that feel the same way.

The weekends are the worst. Its lonely and quiet and nothing to do. Hard to get out by yourself. I totally understand. Maybe others can chime in and give ideas to stay busy .

I agree, weekends are the worst and benchmarks of time make it more difficult. We can't help but count the days, but it does help to do something to break out of it for at least a little while. One of my earliest "enjoyable" moments after Rick's day was going out to a couple of nurseries and buying plants. He died in March, so by the time it was really safe to put flowers outside, I was ready for a respite from grief. A friend and I went plant looking and I came home with a barrel planter and some flowers for the deck and also a white hanging basket with an asparagus fern for the window in my bedroom. I still had years of mourning to go through, but these plants lifted my spirits that day. Praying for your comfort and healing!

Sundays are hard. It's good to plan ahead with a friend . Make a day of it. If church is a start, then lunch, then shop for plants or something new to wear, or go to a park and enjoy the outdoors. By the time you get back look over the Sunday Paper and plan a light meal in front of the TV. On some Sundays, rather than the park if it rains , Go to a movie. There are other widowed ladies in the bereavement groups who love to get out on Sundays. It's not the same as going out with our husbands but it's a way to go forward. Love and hugs, Dolores

Weekends are also hard for me having lost my Brenda 3 months ago. That was always the best time for us! I feel much the same as you do and it seems to be a little easier to control my sobbing. I have been out a few times, once even by myself. It felt empowering even if it was just for a short time. Many other invites have just not worked out as either I could not force myself to go or I was not feeling well enough which was probably just nerves. But we have to keep trying as I;m sure you know. This is a great group so keep coming back!
