My feet have stepped into the life of a widower very recently. So recently in fact that I buried my wife of 15 years yesterday 1/29/16 and now I am lost.
We had a great marriage and I will never regret any of it but where does one go from here. I mean I know I need to keep moving forward for the sake of our 3 teens, but how do I hold it all together.
We have a wonderful church and there are men who I know are there for me no matter what. How do I explain to them how I am feeling when their wives are still alive. As hard as they try they cannot understand how I feel.
I took the kids shopping for funeral clothes earlier this week and could barely hold it together. "Sir what size clothes does you kids wear" I don't know. Meredith took care of all of this stuff.
My wife was 40 and lost a very short (5 week) fight with an aggressive cancer. Now I am 39 and a single dad, our joke was that she was a single mom cause I was always at work. Meredith was our family glue. How long before life feels less like foggy mud and more like murky water. Neither is a clear picture of what is in front of me but the water at least flows better than the mud.
Sorry for rambling I just need to vent and this place seems like a good outlet.

I used to be a very quiet self supported person until Meredith changed me. Now I know I have to be open but God these emotions suck. I hear a song and I flat out lose it. So dealing with customers in a retail environment just does not sound good right now.
Sorry rambling again
In March it will be 5 yrs since I lost my husband to septis because dr error in treatment. We were married 38 yrs. 2 children grown.it does get easier and really it is all so fresh for you and your children. Make sure you talk to your children often if not daily about their Mom. It will help you and them. My children talked alot to me we still do.
Maybe contact your funneral home about grief counseling for the children and for yourself. We didn't for the grandchildren and now are seeking it they have anxiety/depression.
You will eventually get into a new routine around the house. I still talk to Ken even if someone is here give him heck over something I can't find. I laugh about it now you will get there eventually. As hard as going back to work and the children school its really for the best.
I found this place about a week after Ken passed. It is a fantastic place with fantastic very helpful people who all have one thing in common. We all lost the loves of our lives.
Hugs

I am at 3 years. I have had to deal with everything alone. Without the friends here at DS I never would have made it. Reach out, whenever you need to. Drink plenty of liquids, to keep you from dehydrating, eat what and when you can. This takes a toll on your health.
Bless you all, as you walk through this, together. Sandee
