Wedding Anniversary today

Today we would have celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary...it is my second one without him. To help myself get through the day, I am reminding myself how grateful I am to have had 41 years of marriage with him, two sons, and six grandsons. Am I angry that he is not here and that our life together and our dreams for the future died with him? You betcha...but I am doing my best to focus on an attitude of gratitude!

Happy Anniversary, Nancy. Yes it is the Anniversary of your marriage, at least for me. It was a day we hold dear and always will. Treat it as you feel best as it's your day, not others. Sharon

Great attitude!! I was with my Bob 41 years too. I am counting my blessings to cope with my grief. It really helps to trust in God. Bless you!

I can appreciate your thoughts on gratitude. I think without it there is only bitterness and that is the struggle, to overcome being bitter. I had 28 years that I will be forever grateful for. Peace to you Nancy on this special day.

I wish you a peaceful Anniversary Nancy. Oct. 7th would have been our 43rd anniversary. My wife Donna passed 2 weeks before our 40th 3 years ago. She too had cancer, breast cancer and it was only 6 months from her diagnosis to her passing. I am also grateful for out time together, just wish it would have been longer. We had so many plans for after we retired. Never happened. We have a great-grandson that was born a year after her passing on our anniversary. I kinda think she had a hand in that.

I love that you have gratitude!! I hope your anniversary was as good as can be. I had 44 years with my Ben. My thankfulness grows as time goes by.

Nancy this can be a difficult day but your love and marriage continues in your heart and it is different now than it was 3 years ago. Try to celebrate it with good memories of the 41 years that you did have together both the good and hard times. You have a good outlook on how to approach this precious day. Happy anniversary

The gratitude will soften the anger over time. I am humbled by the 22 years I got to share with my wife. Knowing that some go through life never knowing that kind of love. How can we not be grateful. Wishing you a Anniversary that gives you peace of heart and mind. Gerry
