Today is/was our wedding anniversary. It was always a special day with presents and going out to dinner. Last year, it was just 12 days after he died that I had to go through this anniversary date all alone. This morning went and bought a few flowering plants and came home and planted them. I hope the plants grow into something beautiful as a reminder I had beauty and love in my life. Going to dinner with two friends tonight so good to be getting out and have the gift of their friendship. Somehow I think it would be easier if I had family around, but I don't -- so have to dig deep and make the most of it each day.

The plants sound like a good way to honor the memory of your special day. Hope you enjoy the dinner and night out. Our anniversary would have been in June and I have no clue how to deal with it.

I like the idea of planting something to mark special occasions. I would love to make a memorial garden for him, sadly he was the gardener. Maybe I can learn.

Good for you Rainbow! I love the idea of planting flowers, especially because it's officially Spring, with Easter on the heel. I used to have a tradition of planting on Easter Sunday in honor of Ostera (Spring). You post has reminded me that I should get back to former traditions even in the midst of grief and not feeling up to the task. It was always joyful for me . . perhaps it can be again?

We had a drought a few years back and a lot of plants died. Never have replaced them but this year I ordered plants, flowers, and ground cover from one of those mail order places. Should arrive soon. Out the front window is the grave of 2 of our pointers, want to pretty them up and Ray loved flowers..so for him and our dogs I have plans to pretty up the place..

Have planted a rose bush each year...three so far and they are all alive. Unhappy weddingversary :( So hard ! hope the plants bring JOY

3/1/15 would have been our 1st anniversary. We didn't even get to have 1 of them.

My husband died 29 days before our 30th anniversary, he's been gine five weeks now and it seems like it's been a life time since I heard his voice saying I Love You
If the ice ever leaves us I will start work on a memorial garden for him and maybe I'll find some peace while doing that
