I am currently in my 6th month, and have recently found this site. It has been encouraging to read the post from others and realize how far I have come. I sitll have a long way to go.
One thing is still bothering me... I was 37 and single when I found my wife. It was my first marriage and her second. I never really dated before we met. I did a few times but nothing serious. I was mostly shy and intimidated by women and scared to approach them. I was introduced to my wife by her mom at church. We really hit it off and were married about 5 months later. Our 12 years together was the greatest part of my life. She gave me the confidence to do most anything. Her last six months battling lung cancer, I didn't work. I just stayed home and cared for her.
Now that she is gone, I feel like I have reverted back to my single life. I hated it then and I hate it more, now. Sometimes, I feel like I was never married, and the past 12 years was just a dream. Am I the only one to go through this? It scares me because I have lost all that confidence she had given me and I don't want to be alone the rest of my life.

But you will need to become more expressive of your true feelings. More accepting of yourself. Put down the walls. There will be people who like you for who you are, and some don't like you. So what - you don't have to worry about the latter group.
