I'm not sure but Walmart might convert the VHS to DVD. I have several f the VHS's with DH on them I need to have done but it can get expensive. My son can use our equipment to do it when he has time.

Check your newspapers for people that do that sort of thing.

Great job, I know this had to be bittersweet but you will have a beautiful memory. Not sure if you have a Costco near you but they would probably be the cheapest. Or a CVS . You could also look up video production companies in your area, most have this service. Get prices from 3 companies first. The only other way is if you have a computer with a program to do this but could get confusing. Or a dvd deck recorder. Good luck

For a long time the only video I had of Charlie was a short one I accidentally made with my phone (no sound). It is so precious to me and is saved on two computers.
Then last week my brother found a VHS tape from Christmas of 1986. It was like a miracle. Charlie is on it for quite a while and I can hear his voice and his wonderful laugh. I took it to a local shop http://www.duplicationmedia.com/
to be made into DVD's for my whole family (my dad and grandmother who have also passed are on it, too).
They had also put all my old slides on DVD's for me. You probably have something similar close to you, but you want to be so careful with the originals. I know these people are trustwarthy.

Thank you everyone for all your comments and wonderful suggestions. I will look into Walmart, Costco and CVS first. I don't want to lose these memories. I realize now how precious these moments were to be recorded. It is usually my husband recording the children and it is rare for him to be on the tape as I was not good with the camera. Last night was our first early Christmas dinner without him. It was the only day that the whole family is available. I setup a plate setting and an empty chair for him at the table. I brought his urn to dinner too. His brother expressed that it was a good thing to have his urn home and to be able to bring him along to my daughter's house. This way everyone could pay respect to him and he is among family. I hide in the bathroom to hold back my tears not to ruin everyone's day. Wish you all a Merry Christmas and peace.

Our niece has a video of DH and I dancing at her sister's wedding. She keeps promising to copy and send it to me, but I don't have it yet.

You may want to call BestBuy or any other electronics store. The employees often have that sort of information, or maybe you'll get connected with an employee who does this sort of thing on the side.
