How is everyone holding up on this Valentine's Day? I tried not to focus on this day, but it was difficult to do with everyone at work talking about it and people getting flowers. Can't wait for the day to be over. I met my husband three days before Valentine's Day 6 years ago. This time of the year always makes me think of him and the time we met.

The loss of a husband or wife has such a far reaching effect. Every day is a reminder of our loss, but special days are worse. Hoping you have a better tomorrow. Sharon

As if Valentines day were not hard enough, I walk into the office today and my boss had left chocolates on our desks, I did not know whether to be grateful or cry. Both of us are widows in the office, I think he truely thought it was a nice gesture, but it stung. So, I thanked him and went about the day as best as I could. Just never opened the package and ate any of the chocolates, maybe another day, but not today.

Hope everyone else made it thru. I know it is hard, but what other choice do we have, we just keep on getting thru these hard times no matter what.

That's a good question. I had a patient give me a box of chocolate hearts and I thought that was so nice of her. That was my only physical gift which made my day. I was so appreciative of it because she did not have to do that. I remembered that Robert used to give me Roses for valentines and special occasions even though my favorite flowers are carnations. I took the roses and enjoyed them. He was a traditional man. I am so sorry I lost him so soon and he was ill for so long. So I kinda just let valentines day go by.

Sorry your day was hard.
My day was bittersweet. I received cards from my kids and their girlfriends and a few from friends.
The package delivery man at work stopped by desk to asked where my flowers for Valentines Day where. I just turned to him and said my husband died in July. He was taken back and said he was sorry. So was I.
I was happy when the day was over. On to the next first. Marilyn

The day was sad.
I caught myself thinking I hope all the husbands & wives out there expressed how much they love & appreciate each other.
My son called to tell me Happy Valentine's day. That was the first time he did that. It was so sweet of him & I really appreciated it.
I am lucky I have 2 great kids.
