This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I came to this site broken and not knowing what to do next It was two months after my husband passed and I got on my computer at 2 am and typed in widows Daily Strength came up. My faith in God has grown stronger, my admiration of wisdom from all those who shared with me, and my once a month grief support group has brought to a place I never thought possible The leaders on this site are phenomenal. They were and am so generous with valuable information, not only emotional, but practical If they didn't know the answers, they would get back to you with suggestions So, here I am, still lonely, still loving him more than ever, still going through lots of pictures with us aging from our thirties to our seventies, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren I am starting new chapter in my life A one bedroom, one bathroom condo became available in the building where my daughter purchased one three years ago. Hopefully and prayerfully I will be one floor below her.
It is bittersweet as I am leaving a home we had together, a four level home with 27 steps, of which I will not miss. I will be happy about having company as I have stayed in this house for two years by myself. I also made a decision to get rid of our bedroom set, especially the bed he died in, and which I have been sleeping in since that day. So I ask for prayer as I make this giant leap into a new place in a different neighborhood I hope someone will read this, be encouraged and know that all things are possible, even in our darkest moments I can say first hand, I have been where you are and if He did it for me, He can do it for you Stay focused, be comforted and above all, seek peace.

One piece of advice that helped me as I was getting rid of things and selling things off was to photograph anything with sentimental value. That was very helpful, especially for things like Cliff's guitars, which had so very many memories attached to them but which were not practical to keep and transport. I have the photos which are enough for me and the boys.
I am glad we have been of some help to you, and I am glad things have come together for this move. I think it will be a good thing for you and also for your daughter. Keep us posted, and know I keep you in my good thoughts and prayers.

Your decision sounds very positive for you.
I know I changed furniture around in several rooms, and even changed furniture when I was ready to make it just mine. I had to finally to become ME not us At the time bittersweet but good. Financially staying put in my 4bedrm house keeps me here, yet I am still dumbfounded on where I would go...I am so happy to hear you know & are ready...a big step. Good luck
