I saw a recent Doctor Who episode called Turn Left." It was about a woman who'd been driving to work one day, only to discover there was construction up ahead. She sat at the cross-road, wondering if she should turn left or right. Finally, she decided to turn right.
Doctor Who is one of those time travel shows, so we get to see her life if she'd turned left. Turns out her life would have been dismal had she made that left turn. Turning right led her to a happy life and ultimately, saving the world.
I thought of my own "Turn Left" moment.
Back in 1991, I was attending one of those employment fairs. You know, the kind where 100s of employers show up, all looking to hire someone. Well, I'd been there nearly half a day and decided to go home. It had been a successful day. Anyhow, on my way out the door, I saw an employer just standing there by himself. No long lines at all, which was contrary to all the other employers. I'd never even heard of them. But I thought, what the heck, no line, may as well go and give them my resume. So I did that--and because I made that decision, I ended getting hired and meeting my husband(again), the love of my life.
Today, I thought how close I came to "turning left" and the life I wouldn't have enjoyed. The life I enjoyed and the life I have now is all because of that decision. Every time I look at my wonderful stepdaugher and grandkids, my house, my finances, I realize how close I came to not having them.
So, anyone else out there have a "Turn Left" moment.

Isn't it wonderful!!! If I hadn't married my first husband for all the wrong reasons, had my daughter, divorced him a year later, I never would have needed a babysitter who just turned out to be Vern's Grandmother and who shoved us together. That first marriage was a disaster but if I'd have stayed with him {{{{{shudder}}}}} Vern and I never would have happened.

We were married a few months later...seems that he liked the person who had shown the apt = me...and, thanks be to God, we were happily married for 48 blessed years. Yes, I do believe in God's Holy Plan, at least in our case.......Nancy
