Made the call and she had the nerve to ask how I am and how are the babies. Then she said that I was in her thoughts for a good delivery! Really!?!?

I have found that some people, with every good intention, just manage to say or do exactly the wrong thing. And I know I am overly sensitive to everything now, things that previously would not have bothered me. Sorry about your MIL. She must be a clone of mine. Mike's family has yet to see the baby born after he died, and baby is now 6 mos. old. Their loss. Too bas she couldn't wait till after delivery to hit you with the head stone business. No consideration for you in the least. I guess she won't show up at the hospital to see her new grandchildren. Sad.

Cliff died in November. I got called back to the cemetery for what I thought was finalizing papers a week after the funeral. No, actually it was so the cemetery guy could give me a hard sell sales pitch for my own funeral because they were running a "Holiday Special". No lie. If ever I could have done grievous bodily harm to somebody it was that day. Yeah, my holidays were real "special" that year....

People do their jobs without thinking, and others who try to cope just barrel through by staying busy. I think your MIL is just trying to stay busy and be helpful - if she stops she has to grieve and maybe she can't handle that right now. And I do hope she is just grieving not in total denial like Maggie's MIL. It was hard enough losing Cliff, I don't know if I could survive something as hellish as losing one of my sons.

I can not imagine what you are going through being pregnant and dealing with your loss. That goes for Maggie & the rest with small ones. I just want to say I am truly truly sorry - my heart just goes out to you. I seriously wished I live near you all cause I would help see those little ones in a heart beat.

Dealing with the funeral home was so hard. You are right, it just made everything so final, and I was not ready for that at all! Before the funeral home ordered Brian's headstone, they sent me a mock up to make sure that everything was correct. I just lost it. I couldn't believe that I was reading my husband's headstone.

I don't know if some people actually stop and think before they speak. My guess is probably not! I am so sorry for all that you are going through. Hugs, Susan

Planning and ordering my hubbys headstone, along with mine was very comforting to me. I felt it was something i coud still be doing "for him" . After it got set and we had a Prayer serivce to bless it, then it hit me. If not for this site and what i have learned through my grief, i would have assumed this process would have affected everyone the same. Now i know what is comforting for some is pure hell for others. My guess is most of these people have not been through such an experience themself, to understand that. I am sorry you are going through such an experience and am praying for you.
