Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
But she left me with something that has helped me countless times over the past months. Her last words to me: "John, just be who you have always been... and don't be afraid." At the time, I don't think that I truly appreciated how important those words were to become to me. At that moment, my emotions were swirling and I was really not ready for (nor able to accept) what was happening.
But life moves on, I continue to find strength in those few words, and I try my best to live up to them. It sounds as if my Mary Jo and your Kathy were very much alike. They came into our lives, they made our lives worthwhile, and they gave us so very much.
While we are sometimes lonely, hurt, and afraid, at the end of the day, we need to be as strong and brave as they were. It's what they want for us, and it's something that we can still do for them.
As difficult as it is for you now, take heart that it will get better. We will always have our wonderful memories, and know that we were given something very special in our lives... and we will never give up.
John
God Bless you...

For me, I don't want to see it again.
