That's what it's about Kim. My weakness was taking care of the finances. My wife did that. Talk about scary. I just copied what she did with making arrangements and budgeting bills. We can do it.

Way to go Kim! I'm proud of you! Youtube has taught me a lot too and has saved me a bundle!!! Plus it gives me great satisfaction to know that I can fix things myself like headlights, car batteries, faucets and lawnmowers just to name a few!

Woohoo Kim...we all step into those roles we know nothing about...YouTube is awesome...I replaced the ice maker in the frig, sounds daunting, but was a couple of screws, winterized the tractor, learned how to run the pool, backwash and oh...my worst ever was getting a squiggeling snake out of the pool...I hate snakes!
So I have a deal with myself...I make 3 try's at something, if I still can't do it, I ask for help.
Changing a headlight, that sounds like a good one.

I had to remove a very LARGE squiggly snake too! Thanks to youtube and two pizza boxes....I learned how to do it humainly. Hopefully he's enjoying life far from me and I can confidently walk through the garden without having the bejesus scared out of me!

Yes, youtube is fantastic but I'm pretty sure I would not attempt anything on my car--so I'm impressed! My small victory was last year--compiling about thirty files worth of information for our CPA. Ugh, what a nightmare! And my big victory was going out for dinner by myself at our favorite restaurant. I almost made it through dry-eyed (but not quite). Every step is a milestone in this journey, no question.

I am very proud of the widows here who are taking the bull-by-the-horns and shattering the stereotypes by venturing into what is traditionally "men's-work"...don't get me wrong, I am very sorry for the reason you have to do it...but I am very excited that you ARE doing it.
When our girls were in school, I was always excited to hear about the girls who were taking Auto Shop...our girls didn't take it, because even though I encouraged it, in that time they were still afraid of the stereotypes...but with all the morons who work in these auto shops who think they have the right to rip-off women, I think most girls SHOULD take auto shop.
I hate the stereotypes...and I salute all the widows who are using a BFH to smash them to oblivion.
"BFH" Stands for "Big-Fantastic-Hammer".
But "Fantastic" is not exactly accurate!
