Five months now and I feel I am now in a new phase of my grieving. I went on a few days holiday, totally on my own, no friend, no family, just me. On my own at hotel, on my own at restaurants, on my own on the beach.

I cried a bit but I was generally fine, not happy, happy but I felt proud of myself and I felt well on my own. I went to the cinema every night and laughed at the rubbish I mostly saw.

To be out of my usual environment and comfort zone helps with my self confidence. I know, it is still quite early in the grieving process but still another phase. Still nice though to come back in the evening and read all your posts.

You are doing impressively well after five months.
I am too ok being alone in public, and im not out my comfort zone traveling, making reservation for one, but it took time. I was clingy at the beginning, and still prefer to have a good company, but people also be tiresome, so, my own company is just fine.

Your a brave women to go out all by yourself.
I went away just 2 weeks after my husband passed but it was to visit family. I was on the plane alone and all that sort of thing which was brave for me.
I'd love to do what you did but I don't know if I could.

My wife passed away almost seventeen weeks ago (I can not bring myself to mention how long that is in months it is even more painful), and the most I have done by myself is to go to a restaurant for some fast food. I have done that twice. Also been for a coffee a couple of times. I have been invited out with close friends of my wife a couple of time, that was nice to talk, so they knew where I was, how I was feeling.

I admire how you achieved all the things you have done.

You are right, at the end of the day (and the start) to come here and read posts it is nice, this is my lifeline in a world where I feel lost and alone in.

that's great papa. I have gone to movies, by myself. And am doing alright with it also. It seems very hard to be left alone though. Finally kicked my granddaughter out on Saturday,(which 2 nights turned to 2 months).... so Sunday here comes the grandson for at least a week. What's the deal?.... Can't get done what needs to get done here. Got paint, can't get it done, can't get rid of anything here.

What do they think will happen if I don't have someone to support and cook and clean up after?
