I used to love sewing, made my own clothing and the children's piano recital dresses. Life got twice as busy with husband gone, had to do everything and a full time job. Sigh... no much time for sewing.

As I was going through my husband's clothing, he had a lot of ties. I have heard of a tie quilt but have never interested in quilting. I talked to my quilter friend about it. She lived an hour away. She gave me a couple of pattern choices. She brought her tools and came over to my house, helped me cut the ties and backing. She ironed and I sewed. She spent 4 more hours at home just to cut more ties for me. She is bringing me lunch tomorrow and bought me dinner yesterday. I told her not to take care of me that way but she insisted. Her family also had taken in my husband for 6 months when he was a college student and had no support from his parents. She told me that my husband treated her parents better than her own brother. Her mother who has treated him as one of her own sons, was very upset when she learned of my husband's death . We are forever grateful to my friend and her family.
