I am so sorry for your loss.
It can take a long time before the shock lifts and grief fully sinks in.
Lost my husband of 41+ years with no warning.
My grief is harder 7 months after losing him. I really don't know how long the shock lasted.
None of us want to be on this road, but we do help each other very much.

Ruth, I'm so sorry. I also lost my husband very suddenly and unexpectedly eight months ago. We were married 45 years. The first weeks and months are very painful. You will experience many different emotions. Just know that whatever you're feeling, we've all been through it. We're all here for you. Come here to talk, vent, rant, or just blubber. Write as much or as little as you want. There are many here who are further along on this rough road who will help get you through. They have helped me tremendously. Take care of yourself, and know you are not alone.

I am so sorry for your loss. We are all here for you. Unfortunately, we can all say "been there, done that". I'm at 15 1/2 months. It never goes away but it it so much easier to accept and deal with. Let the "fog" of grief be your friend. There have been days I wished it would have stayed around. You will get stronger but it's gonna be a while. Cry and let the tears cleanse you. You will feel exhausted afterwards, but that's ok. Hopefully, the exhaustion will let you sleep. You'll have good days and bad, but you'll get through them one step at a time. I am so sorry for your loss. We are here, we understand what you are going through, as we have all had to go through this. I am still here after 32 months. You are in shock, in a fog. The fog helps you (protects) you from your deep intense pain you are in. Drink plenty of water, you will dehydrate from the crying, eat what and when you can, get rest when and how you can. Deal with what you have to, and don't do anything you don't have to. This takes a toll on your body as well and you mind. And your health. There are so many here that has taken my hand and led me through this thing we call grief. Please join hands and we will led each other through this.. We are here for you.... Sandee

It is amazing Ruth isn't it, how just knowing others understand and you're not alone in your pain can make such a difference.

You have such a great attitude I know you will be inspiring others yourself one day for sure.

Ruth, a big welcome to you! Losing the love of our lives is an agonizing journey! The best thing I did was come to this site. Everyone gets what you are going through! The love and compassion from those who know is amazing. There is always someone here to help us along, to understand why we are doing the crazy thiings we do or feeling the way we feel. This has been a lifeline for me and others who have been here longer give me hope that there is a future beyond this roller coaster! I also lost my beloved last year after 38 wonderful years. Like you I still can't believe he is gone. Sometimes I don't think people realize
the bonding & love & memories after 38yrs. To me that is a part of your soul that will be with you the rest of your life. I miss as much today as I did the day he was taken away.

I also have found great comfort in this group & continue to. I wish the best on this unwanted journey & we are here for you....

Welcome to the group. I just found it too and I am already getting so much out of it.

I lost my wife to suicide three years ago and I just passed her deathiversary. It gets easier but you never get over it completely. I am grieving especially hard this October, as I do every October.

I still feel like she is with me, and in a way she is. Her ghost talks to me and she leaves me signs.

It takes a long time to process. I wish you the best.
