For the second time since Ken's passing while I've been sitting on the couch and Maggie.. my son's dogs live with me.. Maggie is boxer/greatdane mix was laying beside me.. She starts a throaty grown and not a loud bark what I call inside voice bark I look at her she has her ears straight up and they are huge.. She is looking straight at Ken's urn which is in the china cabinet about the T.V. She kept it up for about 5 mins then settled down..
she also won't let any men sit in Ken's recliner.. she puts her ears straight back and stands in the archway and growls and barks and whines.. The say dogs have a sixth sense I'm really starting to believe it..

I believe, too, that our pets know when there is something wrong or we are hurting or someone precious is missing. After my Joe began staying in a hospital bed here at home, our cat started sleeping on his bed with him (never did that before). And after he died, she wandered around looking for him, lost, sad, not knowing what happened. I'm glad you have a good dog with you.

Our oldest dog, Brick a 13 year old collie/st bernard, keeps going down the hallway to our bedroom looking for Gary to get up from his afternoon nap. At night I can hardly turn over in bed as the cat is glued to one side of me and Misty, a german shep/beagle, is asleep on the other side with her head on Gary's pillow. Makes me feel less alone and more secure. Animals are wonderful

My daughter's dog did some similiar a couple weeks ago. Excuse the vulgarity but I mean it only to make you laugh. I sure did.

Don's ashes are in a clock on the end of my daughter's couch. Have been there for almost 4 years and the other day her dog got up right on the arm of the couch and was sniffing over the clock containing Don's ashes. We watched her a few seconds wondering why or what she was doing. Then my son-in-law said, "Don must have expelled gas!" Too funny!!! Sharon

My son is a long haul trucker so when his marriage broke up Ken and I took his dogs in.. Molly is a small beagle she sleeps with me everynight.. she stretches out full length down my back.. Maggie sleeps on a bed on the floor.. When Ken was alive because of the hours he worked and the hours I went to bed we had separate rooms.. Maggie used to sleep on the couch and Molly with him.. now they are both in my room at night and no matter what room I'm in during the day they are with me..They are very much a comfort to me and I'm so glad they are with me I'm not alone in the house at night or during the day.. I feel safe.

As I probably mentioned before, right after my husband died, whenever I cried, my cat would get on my lap and purr, sometimes touching his paw to my face. His whole demeanor has changed since my husband's death. When my husband was still alive and in the nursing home, the cat wasn't much different that he was before. It wasn't until after my husband's death that he acted different.
Do our pets know something that we don't? I sometimes wonder if part of my husband's spirit entered my cat. Strange idea, huh? Judith

I think a ghost was in my unfinished bathrm, my 2 yr old lab refused to go in there last few months. Yesterday my BIL came & helped with putting up the sheet rock on the walls, after we were done - she goes in there. Before her hair stood up on her back - but for a few months she was going in and out of there than suddenly refused to go in there. I w/walk in there and talk to my husband telling him he was scaring Chelsea and asking him to point out what to do...
I asked neighbor to come in and see if there was something he could smell maybe NOTHING...he said it was eerie cold in there when that room always as so hot...????

i have four kitties...one of them shortely after my honey passed, howled so loud...which is something he never does..(he dosent meow, just makes a funny noise)..but he did this very loudly..on of the other ones would sit at the end of our bed and just stare out into the hallway...another one went into renal failure..and the 4th one, now has become my buddy...he sits with me, comes to me when i cry or upset..he even holds my hand like my honey does...i know it sounds crazy..but that is what they all do..i do believe they have a sixth sense..and can sense ones they love and have gone...bless them all...

I had similar experiences with my dog Sadie after Brian passed away. She was a family pet but was very attached to my husband. After he died, she just didn't act like herself. She wouldn't eat and whimpered all the time. Occasionally though she would just stare into space as if she was looking at something that no one else could see, and when that happened she was her old self again - tail wagging and so happy.
