This Birthday was the Hardest

Ken's birthday June 14th was the hardest in the three years since he passed. It would have been his 65th and he was so looking forward to this one and retirement. He had so many plans for things he wanted to do to the house, yard etc. We all know he wouldn't completely retire he always had 2 jobs just because he loved working. He would tease he was going to be a greeter at Wal-mart.
We did celebrate though we had his favorite meal KFC.
He had also bought an expensive set of pots and pans as he was going to try cooking all these strange recipes. He always wanted to be a Chef. He had put the set of pots away not going to use them till he retired. I use them everyday.
I told my son tonight I think I can except his dad being gone now that this birthday is over. Said doesn't mean I mis him any less just feel more at peace and finding more pleasure in our treasured memories

I'm glad that you are able to feel peace. Good for you - using the pots and pans. I think we are all guilty of putting things back to use at a later time and we never know if we will be around to use them later. I found things, when going through my husband's things, that were never used. One was a hammock that we had bought in Mexico. It was in the top of the closet where he put it. I kept it, don't know why, but I burst into tears when I saw it and thought about the fact that he never used it. I am looking forward to getting to the place where I can also find pleasure in my memories instead of hurting when I think of him and my loss. He passed away on April 9, so I have a ways to go. Norma

I am so happy to see that you have moved forward and are enjoying the wonderful things your husband loved and that you enjoyed with him, that gives me hope as I am only seven months in, seven months today actually.
I was happy to see this post first thing this morning, thank you so much for sharing this. It inspires me to do the same, one day, maybe soon....
