I weigh a whole 105#, so my husband did most of the toting and carrying. Whenever I have to carry in groceries or other things I always think how if he was still here he would be doing it for me.
Today I was carrying boxes of cardboard, paper and bottles out to my truck to take to the recycling center.
It occurred to me that I should think of it as exercise for fitness instead of bemoaning the fact that my husband isn't here to do it. It actually made the job seen easier.

That`s the spirit! It can be about how we see things. I try to see the glass half full as opposed to half empty .

There is alot of power in positive thinking. Even when we are hit by grief waves accept the tears as part of the healing process. Perceptions are so important. God bless. Gerald

In the early days of grieving I had problems thinking about anything positive, but as the days passed I began to Realize I had to learn to see the sun in my life to live. I remember posting back then that I knew the sun was in the sky, it was just not in my sight. I did eventually see it shining. Sharon

I can relate. Mine was the yard work he did that I took for granted. So I picked up the idea of exercise for fitness while raking the yard the other day. It was working until I saw the snake. After the scream of course, I had to smile thinking Alan probably saw more around then he let me know. another positive thought.

Good for you! No matter how many groceries we had, my husband always carried them all in at once...it was like a game he played lol. I try but it still always takes me 2 trips!

My husband and I worked together in a business I started, second hand and antiques. I am disabled in my back (never applied for the disability monies) so my husband WAS my back in ALL WAYS. I am scheduling my reopening of our shop in a week or two. I am concerned on how I am going to survive in my business without him. I have noone, anywhere, just me. I pray for MY LORD to please lead someone to me for help. I do not have time to go out and find help, nor can I afford to pay someone all the time as we are just a 4 year old business, GROWING, mainly because we did not hire help.

Good for you! We could all use a little exercise! I think of it that way too. I am small. I like carrying the 25 lb bag of dog food through the store and when people offer to help, I smile and tell them, "nope, I got this"
