Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

The worst thing that could happen? I shudder to think of it.
I think becoming a widower is not even the hardest challenge I had to face in my life, after much consideration. Perhaps the saddest and most painful. But not the "worst" -- not something that challenged my immediate survival or my existence. I recovered from narcolepsy caused by Bipolar depression, so bad I couldn't work, and my Pdoc said I would probably never work again. Well, he was wrong. I recovered from 10 years of homelessness, starvation, desperation with my family. That was hard to experience and hard to rebuild a life that works. And life-threatening many times.
I'm not glossing over grief and mourning, not saying "I had it worse than you" or anything like that.
Right now, most of us are in the throes of unbelievable pain and sadness. Like nothing we have ever experienced before. But we have all had our previous struggles and successes, and we need to remember those to give us hope in our darkest days.
When you said whats the worse that can happen ... you're absolutely right, it's already happened to all of us here.
We should be able to handle anything else now.
Hugs,
Janie
