My husband went home to God our Father July 6,2013. He fought bravely to stay with us but his cancer was too aggressive. He did live 17 months instead of the few months the doctor first told us and I was so blessed that I was able to stay home and take care of him. I took Family Leave for three months after his 19.5 hours of surgery. When I went back to work I was laid off two days later but before leaving I had an interview in another department and was able to start work that Monday. However, God had other plans. In a couple months the OTS closed down the bank I worked for.
On January 17, 2014 my mother also went to be with God after her long battle with cancer.
I don't dream about my husband much but I get signs from him. I want to tell you one of them. January of this year was very hard for me. I think because February 10th is the day we met, than of course Valentine's Day, February 18 is his birthday and March 1st was our Wedding Anniversary.
January 9th I was in the living room dusting my husband, Craig's urn and talking to him. A little while later I went to check my cell phone and I had a VM from my sister, Irene. I listened to it and she said that she had a message from Craig. Well, imagine how surprised I was. She said that she was lying down praying and she saw his face. He said to tell me he loves me, to lean on God, that he was interceding for me. He kept telling her to tell me he loves me very much. She said that he won't leave her alone until she called me. So she got up. I cried when she told me and I thought it was because he knew how very sad I was.
Well, January 19th was a holiday and my two sisters and I met for lunch at Olive Garden. During lunch Irene said that earlier when she was dropping her granddaughter off she saw a vision of three piles of blood on the road. My other sister and I just shrugged it off since we didn't know what to think of it.
After lunch we shopped a little and I went home and my two sisters went to my Dad's house. I went to the bathroom and I thought I had the runs but when I looked in the toilet it was a lot of blood. This happened about seven more times. I told my sisters and they took me to Emergency.
They ended up keeping me there and at 2 in the morning I had to drink the liquid to clean my bowels so they could do a colonoscopy in the morning. They also did X-Rays,etc.
January 20th, with my kids and grandkids there, the doctors informed me I had colon cancer. I had a tumor and one of my lymph nodes was affected too. The hardest part was seeing the faces of my family.
That was the reason Craig came to my sister, not that I was sad. God is with me and he is too. I love that man so. With God I am not scared.
