WHAT was I thinking? ha ha ha, it's been nearly six years since we got a puppy. That means I was nearly six years younger! And oh how I forgot just how busy these two can be. We can no longer "walk" through the house. We do a forward and backward Michael Jackson moonwalk for fear of stepping on them because they move so fast and right near our feet. We take them out to go potty, they go, five minutes later they go in the house. Keep in mind they are not quite two inches off the floor so by the time you realize it, it's too late. And one or both climbed onto the top of the couch back coushin and pooped. I didn't even think they could climb that high. But yeah, they can. The little pitter pat of their feet cracks me up, but when I don't see them or hear them I better get up to see what they are up to. They have found every dropped q-tip, bread tie, sock (especially with toes still inside) and dryer sheet. Need to pull my couch out cuz they keep coming up with more treasures. They prefer the older dogs food(weight maintenance) to their puppy chow. And they kept chewing on the velcro strap on my laptop charger cord. Pulled it out of the wall. And this morning I plugged it in and they had chewed through the cord. The new one I just bought a few months back. thirty some bucks. And the older dogs. Chihuahua (14) can't get away from them and is not happy.!! The setter/lab mix has barely left the bed in the bedroom, she is still pouting. She tried to play with them the first day, accidently stepped on one and I think it scared her. At least on the bed they can't get to her. I truly believe she thinks I have decided to let the squirels out of the trees to move in with us!! She just looks at them and then me like: WHAT are they. So I will be scheduling separate feeding times, working with the potty training, cleaning up all my floors both under and behind furniture. And of course spending more quality time with the older ones to assure them they are not forgotten and I still love them too. But oh these little ones are sooo cute, and cuddly and love affection and kisses. And make me laugh. Worth every second of this total chaos! It just got too quiet, better see what they are into now. I may decide to get another puppy too. I really have to think on it though.

The little guys have too much freedom, and they will not learn to be potty trained, unless you can monitor them every second and train them, taking them out every few minutes...
the stricter you are, the faster theyll learn. PM me if you want more unsolicited free advice.

They demand attention, which is probably good for us. I DO think you were especially brave to get 2 at the same time. haha. It must be hilarious.
My "puppy" is over a year old now. she was the last gift my husband picked up for me. fortunately, I already had her house trained before he passed. I remember going through that "WHAT was I thinking?"! stage too. for me, it had been well over 10 yrs since the last puppy (a chihuahua) the new pup is much larger mix-breed. But the old chihuahua is The Boss! It is almost sad, watching a 45+ lb dog get torn into by an old fat 5.5 lb chihuahua disciplinarian. but the tiny ones do have to protect themselves from accidental injuries- at least that is what I tell myself.?
I agree with kkg17 on the housebreaking advice. and, especially the Tiny pups,.. those can have lots of secret accidents before you know it- and it is 10x harder to fix their habits than it is to prevent.
Nevertheless, I'm so happy to hear that you are enjoying them!!
I would not have survived my confined time of grief without my big puppy. The chi ended up here by family "accident", from a grandkid. and the big pup's physical presence has been so much more OBVIOUS. Lol. Well, as soon as my husband passed she became traumatized, so sits IN the recliner with me! The chi could almost be overlooked, but not this big pup. She might even be 50 lbs now, I don't know. need to get her weighed on the walk-on vet scale. After her spaying she was 40 lbs, but is much larger now.
Well, you will have a big lap full with 2 weenie dogs. They are lovable.
